Have you noticed how usually... when people are reviewing parties etc... when it comes to the DJs, in most cases there is a pattern where people say..

the first artist was ok,
the second artist was good,
and the third was rocking....

Truth: the reviewer was sobre during the first artist, took whatever at the beginning of the second artist and started feeling whatever, and was flying, rolling, holing, growling or whatever by the third artist... which explains the review...

now this is nothing new... we all know how it happens... just wondering why the reviewer doesnt think about it sometimes...?

(I know that most of the time the 'better' or more well known artists play later, and the artists in the beginning arnt as good... but thats not always true... and how would we know anyway cuz we're always sobre in the beginning and high by the end)          www.facebook.com/DjJanux

Well had a written a review of Boom it would have been the opposite. Every night I enjoyed the first act and it always got worse from there on. Not that I despised the following or anything but the first was pretty much always the best.

This was due to the "lets start the night with progressive sounds and move to full on after that" timetables. So in that case there was no substance factor, just the taste factor           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

thats the most ridicilous generalization I have heard. learn to enjoy this music with or without substances. and if you like the artists only because you are high on whatever, you should question your goal as to listening to psytrance.

Dude,
you havnt read properly... I'm the one talking about other people being high and rating the music accordingly... in other words... I am saying what you are saying, and questioning why many people dont think about the fact that the reason they are liking certain music at certain times is because they are high.

secondly... yes I am making a generalization about people. the thing is generalizations exist for a reason... because when looking at the masses, those things do happen. The important thing is to use the generalization in the correct way.
so if you are going to say that it is an incorrect generaliztion of mine to say that most people at trance parties take substances, then maybe you need to check out your surroundings a bit more and be more aware of where you are.

and third, I'm the one playing the music at the parties.

(maybe you got thrown off by one thing that I said... i said 'how would we know because we are always sobre in the beginning and high by the end'... by 'we' I meant the collective we... as in yes, the generalized trance scene.)          www.facebook.com/DjJanux

ok, it's not really generalization... it's just thinking out loud about something. it's like asking - do you think that this is the reason?

well, janux, I think it is not that clear to say. first of all, I see a lot of party reviews that don't even talk about the DJs, just "it was a great party" or things like that
Second, something you've said yourself - it's usually that the more famous DJs are not the first ones, so when they get to play there is already a build up of anticipation (which usually starts even before when ppl know who's about to play). Unless they really fuck up, ppl will think they rock.
Third, the first DJs usually play for a smaller crowd, ppl aren't dancing that much then (not only because they haven't taken anything, but also because of the vibe). When ppl don't dance, they have a better chance to really pay attention to the music and how it is played. Besides, it gives them a topic to talk about - like the weather

So, agree that in many cases the format of the DJs review is like you said. About the reasons for that? well, we'll never know
