i dont see any reasson why these two types of basslines kbbb and "experimental" basslines cant be put toguether in a track. As a matter of fact i like the groove that gives to the track.
Crazy Ducks is a nice example how to put toguether different rythms with the standard kbbb bassline and usual psymelodies with more eclectic sounds.
So if music evolves to something that "isnt trance" , so be it, psychedelia is more about experimenting than repeating formulas.
The term "trance" in music refers to the effect it has on the Brain , rather than its composition. i mean it still has a low frequency boom boom and monottonous rythms , thats what makes it trance.

I gotta bump this topic up. This is definitely what I've been looking for.
Question: How do you layer so many basses without them clashing, causing clipping etc.? |

What's wrong the KBBB routine? I lovvvve that type of bass. Especially a single note continuously firing that sounds like a laser beam penetrating right through my mind. |

i listened my old vinyls and when i come back to the psy of today the basslines are so boring !i think removing the bassline on the kick is about laziness of getting the mix right with it ,but in the end it s very limiting the creativity . in this forum i don t know if you remember but some already posted some incredible clip of basslines playing with the kick , i think a lot can be done in this direction .(combined with different note size and maybe portamento ,it can make things very groovy )

+1...but, other than sidechain, how do you avoid the muddy sound when having the kick and bass at the same time? |
