I don't get this topic. Any bassline will work if you just give it a bit of mixdown work with the kick. Suomi, Goa, Psytrance, Techtrance, Prog, Minimal - all these do not usually use the kbbbkbbb bassline. Hell, people forget that a bassline can also have melodic value, not just be a groove thing. |

Nice! I especially like the bass1.
You made me try some stuff and ended up with 5 layered bass sounds and some percussion thrown in for good measure.

this bass is made of 3 diffrent basses:
1. lfo type deep bass for the cycling effect from the minimoog.
2. trilogy oberheim saw with pumping sidechain.
3. cakewalk's rapture on some strange tweak of a basic preset...

came out interesting and atmospheric... i just gave a small excerpt from the part.

i know huja i agree with you about the influences sure we received a lot from electro\techno and whatever (i love your bass anyway... it's fat and original... and it still is kbbb) . but i think this is too much, it's pushing towards something that ain't trance anymore... psyelectro? i'm not talking about you neither this topic... it's whats happening to the scene.

Nice topic.
I tried something recently and it used it in one of my tracks and it sounded pretty good to me.
Tried it on V-station.
2 oscs with a little lfo on the 2nd.

for example in night psychedelic music i like when the bass plays in tonal unity with the kick, creating a monolith base together, above which all other sounds float in 3D space.

Is it just because we all know the 16th bassline works, or do you think psy producers just get way too into that one idea and get to hooked on trying to make it so crisp and perfect, which is good fun when all's said but...
On the other hand I've gotten quite into suomi trance recently, for the exact opposite reason, though at times it more just fun dance music than actual trance, there's definately some good experiments going on though.
It does take a revolution to make such a notable change when it's the DJ's who decide what gets played at parties and nothihng mixes nicer than something thats almost the same. |
