I remember the old days when many tracks didnt have a bassline, many prog tracks had a kick, but thats all. It was more trancey in some ways. (think harthouse and eyeq etc..) I like tracks where the bassline changes, or evolves with the rhythm.

i m of the belief that another artist has already expressed: little less conversation, more action.

most innovative ideas didn't come from brainstorming over and over on the topic, but by one moment's inspiration..if you are going to be innovative then you are going to be on your own.
and that's only my opinion of course

hey guys,

if you talk about bass, then give a tip:

is it healthy to do HiPass eq from 60HZ ? or just lowering down db to frequencies under 60HZ without making any filter cutting.

coz sometimes, the bass is too fat and killing the whole mix, and sometimes its very weak!

is there any magic buttons?

i put in the insert channel:
wavs req6
maxxBass
r-comp or GUP1 side chain comp.

and as bass i use, vb1 or tau/tauPro

that's it...

thanks for help

^^why do you put maxbass everywhere? i dont get it. its not for making bass better in the mix despite of it has the word 'bass' in the title!

On topic: guys, what are you talking about?
how to make a new bass? in what style actually? progressive? morning fullon? night stuff? electro music? rock? i guess any of them have own aspects and characteristics. whether they are kick, bass, melodies (or lack of them), speed, special effects and so on.

for example in night psychedelic music i like when the bass plays in tonal unity with the kick, creating a monolith base together, above which all other sounds float in 3D space.

in morning fullon music i like clear, dense, fast-attack melodic bass, which notes play independently and have silence between them, making groove and making me dance. and so on.

why do i like it - because this is my taste so plaese dont stop making those psytrance basses that we all can here nowadays! hehe

no, not because its written "bass" on it
and yes, they wrote bass coz its actually for bass.
for sub-bass frequencies, but the problem is to know to using it profisionaly with all other plugins...
so this is why i ask the help of sound tigers here and there is many here of them

--- clean & fat sound...this is my dream...
could u fulfull it?

please shoot it on...

For Elad, in a mono it will be silent.

but in stereo it will sound something else.
i used it allot in my tracks.
and ppl think it's quite weird at once,
but as the time goes the hear getting used to it, and it's giving the bass a very uniqe place in the mix.

and for UnderTow, why is it a bad idea for a groove ? :S

I too like to use this method a lot. BTW. it is also a key if you want to make 5.1 sound...

and yes, when done right it will groove... and I love that unique bass feel, it is so present and at the same time not so overpowering, just fully present !

i like the basses too, there is a lot of varity already, if it works it works

and about maxxbass/rbass, in most cases they are just not needed. i use it rarly when my bass is asking for it not as a standart plug i add to the chain automaticly..            Signature

one tip for crazy bass is to load sample different stuff like cutted drums or anything and twist it with timestretch and all different stuff..

it is true only saw-basses can get a bit boring..            Signature

Huja, are you run out of ideas? =)

not at all...
just trying to push people to be more inovative..look for new things.
and perhaps learn too..
heres an idea
i just did a remix for insomnia...
I used an electro kick its smaller and softer than a trance kick..and the bassline was from minimoog its actualy long one bar notes with side chain so its not exactly umpa umpa..its less drive than the usual one but it has a massive sub freq and its a bit diffrent..

well huja it's a nice idea to try to inovate but what you described there is more or less an electro kick & bass combination. and that's what's happening to the trance nowadays. artists try to change, to evolve to something they call new but this path is leading to electro.
that's whats happening to bliss (check the A-Team, painkiller vs bliss tracks) and, the one that started it all, eskimo. they are becoming electro and many are following this new bass trend which i don't find "new" because i can hear it everyday on the radio (only comercial dance radios here in portugal).

so everything is becoming ultra-fat, but ultra-slow! it's good to evolve, not to change whats good. unless you can do something BETTER (not FATter).

off-topic joke (not attacking anyone): artists should take less coke and more acids.

just my 2 cents.

EDIT: let's take one example: Olli Wisdom.
i think everyone here has felt the power of a Space Tribe live act (even if you don't like it, the power is there and i'm sure everyone feels this). do you think he accomplishes this by trying to change? with a ultra fat bassline? no he did this by too many years evolving but never changing. don't change, evolve!

We al know electro and drum and bass kick the ass of psytrance when it comes to basslines!
So be inspired
in electro i always make bassnotes on the kick, if you sidechain just a little it works great and gives a more pumping feeling to the whole

And try breaking your bassline in parts, 16ths all the time is just plain boring!

this is exactly what i'm talking about... the trend that is going to kill psy trance. anyway you're a progressive artists so i totally accept your opinion (i like prog too but in different ocasions) but for psy...

i did a DnB bass patch ( with some detuned squares with lot of distortion and few filter modulations ) and it worked great but it s sounding to much electro for me , but if i was into prog stuff or electro trance i ll use that cause it can work great (they used these basslines with house and techno few years ago)
