How is the situation of the psytrance scene wherever you may be from? Is it in its Spring, summer, autumn or winter? Has it cycled several times perhaps? Has it died?
Has your local scene grown or shrunk in the last years?
Are there more parties or less? Or same old same old?
How important a role does psy play in your area compared to other forms of electronic music? Has its importance and ability to fascinate changed?
Is your scene healthy?

Lotsa questions, but I just had my morning coffee, so here goes:
The scene in the midwest USA is great. Next weekend is our first and usually biggest outdoor event called Sacred Earth. I'm one of the organizers for the event, we will probably get around 500 people.
4 years ago when I started doing this we had around 300 attending our outdoor festivals (we do 2 major ones per summer- we had been doing and Earthdance in Sept).
There are a comparable amount of parties now to 3 years ago. The scene didn't come into the midwest until about 7 or so years ago, so it's still relatively fresh. There used to be more parties going on in one part of our region, but due to people relocating/moving on in school they're less frequent (I'm working on changing this though ).
Being in the midwest, techno/house are king. DEMF happens in detroit, plenty of big parties around other areas both outdoor and indoor. Psy is quite unique here as the members of my crew are spread out throughout the region, we don't all live in the same city. We also work very cooperatively with other psytrance crews in the area. There are maybe 3-4 different people/groups who actively throw psytrance parties. We generally all work together both in doing the parties and in planning when to do them so they don't happen too close to each other.
The scene is very healthy. We have been fortunate to have some small venues owned by friends around here to have more intimate parties (50-100 people)- which I think is key to having a strong scene.
More people in the midwest are getting into throwing parties, producing, djing and helping out in general, so I see good things in our future. I think we've done a good job of growing the scene, but not letting it get out of hand or stray too far from what we want the scene to be. You can't control everything, but there are definitely good and bad ways to go about preventing them.

POLAND (European Union)
Our scene is fragmented with lots of fights over ideas, music styles and personal issues. Our biggest festivals attracted around 1000 people and it was 5 years ago.
We had our legendary Moondalla festival and I'm proud to be a dancer on the last one. This festival had a lot of magic, with lots of creativity and lots of esoteric/occult/spiritual connotations, symbolism and propaganda. For me Ozora is just shallow compared to Moondalla. It wasn't just a festival, it was a psychedelic propaganda with subliminal messages all around and from what others said about it, most of them just DIDN'T noticed it at all! It was like this festival had two sides, one obvious psychedelic party and the second that maybe 5% of participants noticed at all because you needed some knowledge to SEE those symbols, analogies and messages.
Our scene has a lot of problems because of money, size and bad vibes. I still love it but not always I feel secure on parties and attacks by bullies had happened before. Poland is a bit backward with hip-hop ruling over almost every town and city. Football and gyms are the most favourite hobbies among teenagers. So it's hard to get through with anything psychedelic. Speed and marijuana are the true rulers of this land.
But we don't give up! I'm one of organisers in smaller city in Poland and we are making a significant progress in recent years! We have some good artists (like Artha and Kino Oko, for example) and even an old-school legend, Tromesa.
We are very underground and a lot of "junky" with lots of drugs and very poor participants. Not in my city but Polish festivals compared to Ozora are a lot "dirtier" and more "punky" then "hippie" but there are a lot of good people in here so I'm hoping for the best! |

The Southeastern United States is THRIVING with psychedelic trance and culture. We had the festival season start on the Vernal Equinox and we have the final farewell on the fall equinox, so we are outdoors for a good 7 month period, granted it some cold, but most are hot and steamy!!
It's amazing now that i think about it. We have huge representation of every type of psychedelic trance here, from the pangea tribally goodness, to equinox bringing in super high vibes and really nice positive grooves, to AtlPsy who tend to get hot and heavy at night and nice and flowey in the day to Those People who are just down right nuts all the time. Couple new families sprouting up, with a crew in Tennessee that looks to be getting off the ground, and a lil something happening in Florida.
Overall, we are a big family in the south, and much of that family spreads far and wide, especially up in the Midwest! (HEY KEVIN!)
Myself and a LOT of people are doing everything they can do see things keepin it a goan as much as possible!!

is dying, here in México and Brazil and other Latin American countries, minimal techno took force, and there are not more psytrance parties, hopefully I hope this is temporary, and that this will help the wrong people are removed from the scene and There are still a room for a small but healthy scene. |
