yes agree but it feel like it sound a bit different when working on different daw,i think it may be placebo...i haven t done and seen and real world test, when lot of tracks are summed with some plugins and volume faders not at unity it would tell the truth.
i doubt it s something that could compromise the sound quality of the tunes imo if there is difference it might be small

I think the better way to phrase these opinions is to say I personally get a better result out of x, y, z - because I doubt that anyone uses different DAWs but the exact same 3rd party VSTs in each one.

It's completely possible that the different workflows offered by the different DAWs give you different results. Working in and constructing tracks in Ableton's Session view is vastly different than Logic's or Cubase's Timeline view and as such will net you different results.

Workflow and native effects/instruments? Worthy of debating about which is better. Most people report Logic's built in FX and instruments to be higher quality than Ableton's for instance.

Talking about which audio engine 'sounds best' is almost completely worthless IMO as a topic of discussion as hardly anyone has the data to back up their 'facts'

Ive tried many DAWs, and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I always recommend trying every one that you can, and go with the one you find easiest to understand and work in.

For me, its Renoise. By far and wide, Renoise has the smoothest workflow for me. But Ive used trackers since Impulse on DOS... The tracker style pattern editing is quite different than a piano roll. I love it cuz when I press teh D key, it makes a D ONLY where I tell it to, and the best part of Renoise is THE MOUSE. IS. OPTIONAL. If you get to know the keyboard shortcuts you'll be able to use both hands, and all 10 fingers at the same time, Ive never been able to work even 2/5 as fast with other DAWs, I just feel like an arm is missing...

But, Im not saying use Renoise. Or any specific program. I use Renoise for writing, and initial production, Reaper for mixdowns, and Ableton for live/dj sets. They all fill the others' gaps. Im particularly loving the new Reaper 4, full x64 integration so those ReaPlugs can really go to work.

Renoise also has native Butterworth 8 node filters, which are super great -48db laser-knives that Ive only seen in expensive commercial plugs. It makes the lack of MIDI routing within Renoise (no true sidechaining) easy to forget           .
