Yes, and moonshine can be quite psychedelic too:

Shranui, I disagree with your distinction between gatherings, parties, and concerts. Yes, these are concerts. And going back to the roots of the psychedelic movement, and back thousands of years before then, concerts, and gatherings set around concerts have been social gathering points; and centers of spirituality and culture. But they are still concerts.

I do think that the typical concert that people think of has a different feel than a typical psy festival or any other EDM related party however.

95% of the time I'm spinning, a big part of my job as a DJ is to keep my cats off my gear. They never get the levels right on the mixer and they don't know a damn thing about pressing the right hotkeys on the keyboard.

and as far as the alcohol discussion in this thread... I recently made an important "rediscovery". liquor FTW.. less trips to the bathroom

cant it be/isnt it a combination of both approaches?
for djs AND producers, use your personal inspiration and apply it to what you write or how you compose a set and then in the moment - whilst "performing" use your personal inspiration to change those things. and conversely, while writing or composing a set, use the inspiration of the crowd - removed by time and space yes but always there in your mind in a more timeless form as the time slot and crowd/region - to influence the overall expression and format.

ultimately there is no separation of self/ego. its all influence/inspiration from the same source, whether you define it as "you" or "me" is just details. those details grow into an interpretation of the artists "vision" and the product of this interpretation tends to become what WE want it to be to satisfy OUR desires/standards.
lets have a little more give and take, let people speak their heart but not to the extent where they are just playing music for themselves. the point is to be heard but not to sacrifice/change what you are saying or want to say just because people might not like it and jump right into it.
i know plenty of people (myself included) who walked away from dancefloors and wrote certain flavors off in effect and then after being around it more and more i/they began appreciating it after having time to acclimate.

these definitions (option 1 and 2 from the original post) are necessary for analyses but ultimately divide an indivisible whole. distinguishing one side from the other is just volunteering work on a wall between the two that gets higher and higher the more we rely on the "definition". dont get me wrong, im a tireless analyst and critic but it is important to understand what effect it has on those who cant let go of a "review" (read: how something made THEM feel) and end up adopting it as the metrics of their science.

it pleases and excites me to see this kind of dialogue amongst artists/music aficionados as i am sure it doesnt happen anywhere near this level for most genres (of EDM at least).

Horse poop, are you afraid to make it work? Should the lizzard cut and paste to evoke paradigm?

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes."

Wait one second, what in the fruit tarts is a Dj first off :

A person who spins frequencies DAT embodies the passion to express a dimension of life that exceeds the 5 senses. Animated with the energy to express in physiological forms wifs nature or relative grandeur of any form of expression is irrelevant..((Landscaper))((2(signature)4)) of DEEjay is not in what they do but in how intense their MOtIVaTioN Is TO MAnIfEst thE exTRaordInaRY. Create an emotional field that inspires others..

Let's not forget the shadow Artist wifs it's cliches, an eccentric nature, the Starving Artist(youens know who usons is) represents the fear of financial ruin or the belief that fame and fortune come only after death, which often cause artists to suppress their talents

Okay let's first dive into perceptions of Reality.. Subjective, Internal, External and Objective Realities, well, not really, too much hippie bullshit in opinions in fart tones... Let's just take all words at face value then work from there, agree, agreed!!!

Let us chat about the B Team group surface Artist/Dj for a second, this group is the "Status Quo" per Gregs favorite term per "We the People" speech

This group has 2 sections as per Omega's intentions with loaded words/concepts like "soul", "GOD" and "MUSE", sorry chief you can't avoid these words when speaking trance music, I'm fully aware your a dub stepper so it makes perfect sense why you wish to avoid such a meaningful experience in words

Group 1 is the restaurant DJ/artist per Paradigm, the advocate of the robot mind, the cluby musical notes, a needed bootcamp style who has boxed themselves in.. The corporate mind, the reptilian brain, the one who uses making a living as an excuse to drain our scene, euro style

Paradigm, cut and paste this or any post your lizzard makes then throw it back and see magic happen

Group 2 is the field tester, one who is commercial but not boxed in, open minded and can read a crowd beyond the standard skills of Paradigm. This group has a direct link to the subsurface groups without jargon to twist but has sacrificed oneself to the masses for popularity reasons, ego can be removed but this type also feeds from it and enjoys it as a single unit. This tester shares it's rewards..

More later per your lizzard

If you are an artist and feel offended by me, so what, deal with it or be crushed this is only a test to show you how fun it can be to evolve without facecrack stealing our soul

replace "dj" or "artist" with shaman.... are you efficient at getting your message, emotion, or ideals across? Are you even trying to share yourself? What are your intentions when it comes to controlling minds with sound?           Wake walking through your sleep dream
