Part A: How to deal with the wannabe-guru assholes.
You know how people start off talking humbly, but that's actually their way of sounding clever? The ones who go "well, in a very general way" and "I have learned archtypes through my experience" and so on, and so on, and so on. What a bunch of jerks, right? Thinking that if they phrase "I know better than you calmly" in a different way than it'll actually mean something acceptable. Everyone knows those guys, and hopefully, everyone can see through them. These may be the guys that believe they are enlightened or on the path to such a thing. Their tactic in conversation is very simple - they expect their calm to piss off everyone around them before they notice that they're not saying anything based in this f---ing universe. Talk to them calmly long enough, and you'll get childish rage as a reply. It's a battle of patience, and I'm going to help everyone make those pricks lose. People who try to use their calm to feel superiority to others make me sick, and I know that many others here feel the same. Now, we will not always have the option of stabbing them in the eye with a fork (if they can keep their calm after that, hell, they earned my respect), so we have to be sneaky. You just need to remember - these dicks are masters of saying the same irrelevant arguement over and over in a calm tone.
People who are that calm obviously needed a way of anger management that isn't a good shag. Well, if you want to see how the repressed semen f---s with their brain, then all you need to do is this. You need to learn to phrase yourself in a diplomatic way when saying "listen, I heard you the first time. It's been less than two minutes since. You're still a retard". Do this over and over, in a calm tone, using politically correct phrasing, and see how the calm exterior breaks down to show an angry teenager, and the metamorphasis conitnues until they reach a pouting kindergartenner level. Needless to say, this is not as good as stabing in the eye, but we live in too much of a civilized time for than (yes, that was sarcastic. F--- off).
Part B: Dealing with the cokeheads.
Party organizers know this. Most people who know a few DJs know this. People in the psytrance scene used to think (and some delluded *people* still do) "hell, we can't be as bad as the techno guys". Wrong. The psytrance scene has finally nearly caught up with these guys, and the only reason that cocaine isn't more popular is because it's too expensive for all the cheap bastards out there. I'm not talking about the cocaine infested jerks that believe they're greater than anyone else in their own eyes even when the rest of the world sees how pathetic they are when they answer each question with "I'm so great, therefor my opinion is automatically better than yours"... Ohh wait, yes I am. There are the subclasses of these guys, the cokehead DJ ("I played in front of 2000 people, therefor my words are always better than yours"), the cokehead party organizer ("I've been organizing parties for 2000 people, so I can say it's not opinion, it's fact"), the cokehead aging raver (I went to parties for years and because of my 3-15 years of being at parties - my observations are so much better than yours"). All of the people who don't even try to hide the fact. Everyone knows those guys, and hopefully, everyone can see through them. They're a bunch of jerks.
Now this is easy. Luckily, as people living after the renaissance, we know that you can't automatically discard an idea in the simple way that these guys do. They appearantly missed the last 500 years or so of human evolution, so toping them will be rather easy. All you need to point out is that their experience means nothing if they're a bunch of morons that they think that they can hide behind a false sense of superiority. Just repeat to them slowly, again and again: "you know, what you said is totally irrelevant. You may be the greatest guy in whatever you do (and a snide hidden remark about how they're not is also in place), ever, and still be a f---ing retard". Naturally, they'll still reply that they're better than you because of whatever reason a million times over and over. This is unfortunate, because it makes you need to repeat yourself just as many times until your words can get through the amount of sheer arrogance that shields these guys from seeing their stupidity. Usually most people get bored of replying to these total assholes, and they think they win. Don't give up, or stab them in the eye with a screwdriver. The second option is faster and does more good in the long run.
Part C: The world revolves around their needs... *not*.
"The world would be better if bla bla bla bla bla bla bla". You've heard it before, and you'll hear it again and again. It's the thing in the psytrance scene nowadays. As if eating some acid, extasy or whatever gives someone the ability to choose for everyone. Big bombastic theories with simple solutions for all of the big problems, well, we saw how well that worked for JFK or Martin Luther King. And let's be honest, most of the guys that think that they can solve big problems are (as a wild understatement) not as well thought out as these guys. Leaving understatement aside, they are either wildly stupid or oblivious to how big their ego is... usually both. These are the worst guys ever, since they're a combination of a preacher and types A and/or B here. The only thing worse than a total dick is one that forces you to listen to him... and for some unkown reason, they expect you to go along with what they're saying.
Now, you can't talk to these guys at all. Your only possible solution is to ignore those guys. Leave them alone. Eventually they'll grow out of it or become washed-out, eventually burnt-out, and finally senseless old loonies (like Timothy Leary), and then they'll die. You can aid the process by stabbing them in the eye with a .357 bullet coming out of a gun, and then you can leave them alone, knowing you made the world a better place  |

And may I add - imo, the biggest problem is that most (and I didn't say all - so you can reply only if you feel it's regarding to you) Dj's believe that once they've played on a higher stage (higher than the crowd, ofcaurse) they automatically recive an EGOTRIP license, (like often lawers think they have) and once they're off the stage, they're still looking at everyone else from high abouve....
So you guys are welcome to land back to earth, the dj's stand is no higher, no mentioning your understanding and observation about music, to which some of you didn't even bother to study the basics of...

Nomolos, you've just saved me some typing, which is really nice, since I type too much as it is, and don't have much time. Plus you get my favorite post of the month prize.
I'll just add to Dr. Mez- I really recommend you to read what Nomolos wrote and check yourself.
What MLK & Gandhi offer us to learn is the simple (yet so complicated to implement) insight that you cannot change something by being the same thing.
Might be worth thinking about.

I'll skip the total moronic idea that you had that this falls under the "guru" category, since I seriously doubt that anyone will learn from this anything, other than stabbing people in the eye will solve problems. Surprisingly enough, I didn't claim to be JFK or Martin Luther King either. And even more surprisingly, I agreed with you.
Now, read the last paragraph again, dipshit. I wrote what you did there. It's called "subtlety", something which you appearantly don't notice. I even added that ";)" bit to make it clearer in case someone like you might actually not notice the self-irony there, but hey, next time I'll just write a text directly after it explaining the meanings and sub-meanings of everything, since appearantly you flunked highschool literature and can't figure these things out for yourself.
And incredibly enough, if I'm such a big time waster, how the hell does it occur over and over again that you bother reading what I write? |
