Having my recent post rejected I've decided to start a new thread.

Did anyone else realize that firt goa-trance came from the electro-acid house wave of the early 90's and mainly featured samples of beats mixed on tape from groups like Depeche Mode. My favorite Depeche Mode song, The Policy of Truth.... While poppy is very psycadelic in nature.

I'm also a little tired of thinking that psy-trance is somehow above all other forms of music. Yes it can be innovative, yes its fun..... But drum machines and computers have been around for decades now. Feel like tracing Huey Lewis and the News to the latest from Silicon Sound? go for it...

yeah, let's talk about the latest full on copy and paste same old formula stuff. I mean there's only a million topics like that so we need more

Infinite_Sun you're right. Psy-trance has never been above
any other forms of music and Depche Mode rules. My favorite is Enjoy The Silence.

mmm, i thought it was a psytrance/Goa/psy-in-general forum And I think its great that we in the isratrancecommunity can talk about other subjects then just "trance". Depeche Mode is also among my favorite music acts. And i'm sorry to say that i cant realy answer your question Infinite_Sun. But let me think about it , and i'll perhaps come back with an intelligent answer for you.

Oh, can i just add that my favorite track by Depeche gotto be "Never Let Me Down Again". And i also gotto mention that i'v just preordered a new mix album of Depeche Modes music on http://www.play.com. --> http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=CD&title=371901

Psy Trance has evolved from other music genres and to this day Psy artists are, among other things, inspired by other kinds of music. Isolation is impossible. To say that Psy Trance is a higher form of electronica is little arrogant or even silly.
Maybe it sounds much better to our ears but that doesn't make it more imporant or holy.

! Bigg Upp Visine !
still moves up the spine and tickles the crownchakra
(the original of course,
not the progressively funked up dark full on tranceadelic psycho remix from hell ).

Depeche Mode was the first record i ever bought myself, as a kid
(after my parents got crazy having to buy new music for me "all the time..")

and what to think about the influence of The Art of Noise, for instance?
and the E'Neubauten or Front 242 later on?

If you talk about goa trance, a very big influence was for sure groups like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, DAF, Liason Dangerouses, A Split Second, Skinny Puppy and Frontline Assembly.

According to the goa old-timers i know, thats the kind of stuff they played in goa end of 80's, before acid music really came about.

Depeche Mode was to pop like to work well on the dancefloor i guess, and Einsturzende to extreme, except "Futter Mein Ego" maybe.

im allways amazed how new wave stayed with us longer than any other style.. and todays comeback of electro is juts amazing in my eyes...
its just so funny back to those analogue basslines and simple synths melodies.. the latest fusion of electro with house and trance also give some delicious fruits, im very into to play this stuff lately!          Believe your soul !

Sure, and as an oldtimer in Goa, first time in 1990, I sure remember what Antaro, Ollie, Gil, Sven Vδth and long gone classic Goa djs like Gunther and Mad Mike were playing. A very nice and eclectic mix of everything from Stoneroses remixes, Depeche mode, body music, acid house and of course the early goa trance!
Must say I prefered that veriety of music instead of just 100% trance, but hey, that΄s just me
Different parties back then too, u dont see ant teepees with white beard men handing out free acid anymore!
