Hey, I have been browsing and trying different delays for hours but I seem to be unable to find what I am looking for. Practically it is very simple.
I want a delay that has this kind of interface. You have a grid where, lets say that every grid separation correspond to 1/4th note (or 1 beat). Then you can draw columns to the positions on the grid where you want the delayed signals. The height of the column corresponds to the volume of that delayed signal. For every column you can also adjust panning, and filtering.
So you could draw an analogy that I want to "draw impulse response and then get the effect", but of course it is not like that. I think that long time ago I saw such an effect, but I don't remember anymore, which one it was.
So this would be a "generalization" any existing delay unit, I suppose (of course without any analog warmth or whatever, but I don't need those =D). And of course you could implement other kind of delay patterns than the basic slowly fading one that you can do with an ordinary feedback.
The most versatile delays I have found until now are PSP 608 and Waves Supertap. But the tap delay paradigm is totally wrong approach for me, as I think in delay patterns so I wan't an unit, where you can draw the pattern directly to the screen and you don't have to think about which feedback values will give you the pattern that you want.

What about:
1. Bounce to a Wav-file
2. Duplicate track
3. Give them all different volumes
4. Place samples where every you want
5. group all of them
6. hide em in folder.
Btw wtf are you doing up that late on wednesday in Finland. "" |

So far the most awsome delay I have found is the Echoboy plug from Soundtoys. 4 different delay types, saturation of various forms and wicked modulation possibilities. Really sounds great!
It can cover everything from clean delays to reverbs to saturated vintage sounds... and lots more!
The more I get into the soundtoys bundle the more I love it. It actually is a bargain at its price (I paid 375 usd from plugindiscounts.com), and it covers most of my modulation needs.
