ive always been a fan of Old school Goatrance.....and where it comes to normal psytrance....i like melodies.....i like tunes that are psychedelic and melodious at the same time.....dis is why old school goa has always appealed to me.....and with the onslaught of sooo much average full on music since last year has led me to find solace in the music of 1998 onwards....after lissenin to lot of old school...the goaway ,goahead and distance to goa....was familiar with eyal barkans album Good Morning Israel but i assumed it came under Old Skool Goa till i came across oren barkan's (eyal barkans bro)album Oren barkan and Kamura.....upon doin some research i found dat deyre music came under another sub genre NITZHONOT.....and i was hooked .....altho for me there was a very fine dividing line between Goa & Nitzhonot....the only slight difference being the melodic element in nitzhonot which some people say is CHEESE.....sinc den ive come across Gems like Cyan (beast from t, Holymen (to an extent), Barak , Reverse Psychology and for dat matter even Old Astriz and somwat Old Yahel & upon readin up further ive found dat nitzhonot has faded away from memory abt 2000 and from the israeli brand of Nitzhonot there formed another sub genre which is Greece uplfiting Nitzhonot which as of now is THE ONLY survivng form of nitzhonot..... artists like Mendark , Star Children ,Lunatic . Cygnet......in dese artists case the music has Old school elements along with ultra melodies....which may or may not be classified as psy tunes...somtimes borderin on cheesy but but for an electronic music lover ITS GOOD.....
NOTABLE ALBUMS IN DIS GENRE :
Cyan - beast from the east
Melodic morning
Eyal barkan albums
Oren barkan albums
Transistance series 1-12
Trilogy the soundfly
even as i write dis i must admit im relatively new to the genre....now lissenin to a lot of Nitzho and old skool Goa.....find its a breath of fresh air from alot of stale average stuff comin out now....
however i know der are lot of knowlegeable people out here who know abt dis stuf more than me and i invite their opinions and views....and also would like to know their recommendations and whether dis form of trance has outlived its life or if theres still hope for d old school-nitzhonot combine .....
Cheers |

..NITZHONOT, is that the thing Erez (IM) does when he's making a killer take-off and he just drives his own mind OUT of THERE with sounds? |

Nitzhonot seems to blend hard pulsating basses, sometimes referred to as "laserkicks", with the Eastern melodies typical for Israeli Goa Trance from 1996 and 1997. The tracks are usually in a range of 145-155 BPM.
At its time Nitzhonot reached a mainstream success in Israel. The most notable artist from this genre is Eyal Barkan, who released his album 'Good Morning Israel' in 1998. It became the first trance record that achieved gold status in its home country, selling more than 20,000 copies (bootleg versions accounted for 80,000). Other artists would stand up in the same year, including Kobi Kastoriano as Iceman and Avi Shwartz aka Holy Men, well known for his Comic Strip track, a famous summer hit in 1998. These young producers were able to conquer the big cities with their hard hitting trance. In the end, the scene would dry out due to an overkill of low-budget and amateurish music. Typhoon Records, by far the biggest Nitzhonot label back in the late nineties, released over forty CDs in less than two years and faded away in 2000.
Before the genre transformed into Full On, artists in Greece captured the flow of this music. At the beginning of a new millennium Nitzhonot, now renamed as uplifting, would stand up again, raising in popularity. However, both terms are not exactly synonyms. Uplifting stands further from Goa trance than Nitzhonot, as the oriental melodies fall away completely. A typical uplifting track contains heroic and epic melodies with European trance influences. Notable artists include Darma, Dementia, Cyan, Pandemonium! and Star Children.
Nowadays, this second generation of Nitzhonot is still part of Greece's trance culture, although it has not reattained its old level of popularity.

Hello there!
Here Agneton from Belgium speaking!
I have been a big fan of this music for years now, the wikipedia page was my work ...
In each case, the Greec scene doesn't reflect the good old Goa influenced-Nitzhonot anymore, but things are beginning to change. Lost Buddha changed his style and is no doing great Nitzho-Goa. Furthermore a totally free internet compilation will be released this summer on Eutuchia records ( http://www.myspace.com/eutuchia ), which will contain some Uplifting and some true Nitzhonot songs. Check out the previews (:
If you're just searching for more good Nitzhonot of the golden era, then go and check out
*Iceman - Turbulent (Pandora records)
*Syndrome - Cold Fusion (Kajoonk)
*Trivia - Speed Of Sound (Victory Music)
*Injector - Illusion (Nachman)
*VA - Popeye (Nachman)
*Hidden Trip & Illusion Shankara - Bom Shiva (Zom-B Records)
*VA - Good Morning Israel 2 (Bootleg, but contains some unreleased works by Zootrax, Ezotery Space and geta Fix)
*VA - Trance Party 2 (Bootleg)

well that album is on the way , the album is complete we´re just trying to find a better way to release it since its a UNIQUE work of art. cant really tell if its goa or nitzhonot , since all i just do is to be myself and to compose music the way i like
anyway i just hope you are enjoying my Pandemonium! songs since i just left the Lost Buddha project.
A new Pandemonium! song is going to be release on the upcoming Buddha Mantra´s compilation.
"Pandemonium! - Clown in a Bag" is the new single.
best regards ,
Filipe.
