Come on everybody, appreciate those guys from Texas/USA! One of the greatest Rock bands of our times in my CD shelf.
Although their oeuvre being really sophisticated, both music- and lyrics-wise, the sound being bombastic, cinematic, even epic at times, everything about this band seems so effortless, as though making one excellent record after the other were as ordinary a thing to do for them as for some people it is to take a dump once every day. While I generally am very fond of bands who got their heads up their own arses, such as Sigur Rós and The Mars Volta, I dig ...Trail of Dead for their nonchalance with which they travel music history throughout their records...I'm looking so much forward to seeing them live in action again soon

maybe a bit long. i think they should change it to ^ so we can shorten it to 'Artist Formerly Known as DOT DOT DOT And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead."
great band. i saw them sometime after Source Tags.. came out and it was a great show. Worlds Apart really surprised me and i don't think i liked it much at first. but it grew on me after a while. lots of really cool stuff on that album. i'm not at all familiar with anything they've done after that.

"Worlds Apart" has to be my favourite so far, though I gotta say the new one, "The Century of Self" is pretty fucking awesome too, especially "Isis Unveiled", the first tune I quoted up there. Actually, I can't say anything bad about any of their albums, as it is all top notch material.

one of very litle music styles which gives me nothing. Its like noise and 3 chords and a guy who tryis his best.
very commercial in my opinion only, at least the guitars are not hanging on the knees.
Thinking on the greatest rock band of our times I would go more for lots of others but probably it would be commercial or shit for you. rage against the machine had a concert recently.. this is power to the people and soul and rock and roll for me.
but the vids was nice!
I hope its free opinion thread and nobody will throw with stones on me hehe
Cheers

No, it's not. You're obliged to appreciate AYWKUBTTOD in this topic. Otherwise get out of here.
Seriously now, for a change: Tastes differ, nothing wrong with that. I personally give a damn about music being commercial or not. All that counts are the feelings the music evokes in me, and Trail of Dead indeed gives me a lot more than most rock band people consider "one of the greatest". In this case, though, I feel the need to comment your statement about being commercial. First, music being commercial or not is not subjective. Second, saying Trail of Dead being commercial in comparison to Rage Against The Machine is totally wrong in many aspects. If you compare the numbers of sales and people who are aware of those two bands, you will see which of them is the commercial and sell-out one. The fact that they've played David Letterman show doesn't make them commercial, as Letterman tends to invite bands to his show who are more on the independent side of music.
And, in conclusion, the guitars not hanging on the level of their knees most probably signifies that they are concentrating on the more-than-three-chords they are playing instead of looking cool and o-so-uncommercial
