The Next Generation by Gataka [Phonokol Records]

http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/pho/pho1cd310.html

Track List

1. Sesto Sento - Hit and Run
2. Gataka VS Apocalipse - Pump it
3. Ultravoice VS Fatali - Inside Outside
4. Gataka VS CPU - Arrive alive
5. Chromatoner - Eternity
6. Paranormal Attack - Kids
7. Melicia VS Beathackers - Envelope
8. Star X - Morning Glory (Dynamic remix)
9. Psycraft - Dream on (BLT rmx)
10. Cosma - Non stop

Gataka needs no introduction. But Matan Kadosh does need an introduction since he's Gataka I never knew about this till now.

1) Sesto Sento - Hit and Run

Sesto Sento has always impressed me a lot right from their Crystal Skulls Track. But they now show that they are capable of producing mind-blowing full-on also. Great bassline and nice kickin' synths keep this track alive right throughout. Awesome dance-floor killer. I also saw Gataka's name in the credits for this track, did he help them in this track? My only complaint -- this track is not long enough!!!!

2) Gataka Vs Apocalipse - Pump it

Starts very much just like any random full-on track. But you don't have to wait much because the guys start pumping it up Dance floor stuff for sure, but a bit ordinary imo

3) Ultravoice Vs Fatali - Inside Outside
Sorry, this may be a very good dance-filler. But nothing great or different about this track. I don't like it. The only saving grace for this track is the intelligent sample!

4) Gataka Vs CPU - Arrive Alive

Now this is what i call a good track! Gataka and CPU are both great artists in their own right, but imagination is surpassed when they come together and that is what happens exactly in this track! This is one of the best tracks of Gataka that i've heard! I say no more about this track, listen to it and find out why its so good!

5) Chromatoner - Eternity

This one contains samples from the famous "LSD". I'm pretty sure that this is a remix of an old track as most of the tunes
bring me feelings of nostolgia. First time i've heard Chromatoner & definitely not the last time. These guy(s) have taken the old tunes and turned it into a terrific full-on track.

6) Paranormal Attack - Kids

Has a very psychedelic scream that continues throughout the track and is used very well. The track is full-on, but has good melodies and is definitely a great dance-floor killer. Great scream, i love it

7) Melicia Vs BeatHackers - Envelope

I've always liked Melicia & BeatHackers, but them together is just gr8. The percussion work, the FX, the melodies, the breaks, the samples, i could go on... This one is definitely gonna be played a lot in all the parties! Great work, i want these guys to do more colloborations!

8) Star X - Morning Glory (Dynamic Remix)

I'm pretty sure that i've heard the original track before. But wtf is a morning track doing in a full-on compilation? This is a good track in its own right, but still....

9) Psycraft - Dream On (BLT Remix)

Another good morning track in its own right, actually pretty good remix....but still, wtf????????????????????????

10) Cosma - Non Stop

Nice thorough track which has the typical "Cosma" touch to it. A bit long drawn out in my opinon as you get the feeling that the cd is about to end and it never does end for quite some time.

Final Words:

Gataka really does know how to spin a compilation and he does a pretty good job. My only complaint is that he's put in 2
morning tracks (8 & 9) in the middle of a really good full-on set. When people listen to full-on, they want the entire cd to contain full-on, if they want full-on followed by morning tracks, they would go to a party. Maybe Gataka thought "Why do people need to spend time & energy going to a party? I'll give them the same effect!". But in reality this ruins what i would have called a very good compilation and recommended to everybody

Rating 3.5/5 [for the (poor) inclusion of (good) morning tracks ]

Recommendation : Definitely a must for full-on lovers! Most of the tracks are definite dance-floor rockers and even though my
rating is a bit on the lower side, i would definitely ask you to give this one a try. Much much better than most crap that's available out there

Favorites - 1, 4, 5(!), 7, 8(!!!!!), 10(!!!!!!!!!)

comments are most welcome

update: i typed this review in notepad, then tried to put it here, the alignment is all screwed up...sorry...if the mods can fix it..(i tried a lot without success)....it will be gr8           Interviewer: "So Frank, you have long hair. Does that make you a woman?"
Frank Zappa: "You have a wooden leg. Does that make you a table?"

Well for starters Matan (Gataka) is one of the 3 members of Sesto Sento, and he started the track hit and run and the sesto threesome finished it off and put their touches to it.

And why wouldn't a morning track be on a full-on compilation?

What exactly do you mean by "for the (poor) inclusion of (good) morning tracks?"

the line means that the morning tracks are good, but imo should not have come into the compilation....just my weird taste...nothing personal....           Interviewer: "So Frank, you have long hair. Does that make you a woman?"

Fair enough man...

but generally an artist makes a compilation with tracks he plays, so whatever he likes goes in the tracklisting.

Morning trance is Matan all over, so there you have it!

the compilation is a very successful selection of amazing music from different times. at the end a reminder to cosma - one of the best tracks that he made - if not the best.
