Some of you may have been in this kind of situation.

You have some friend and you invite him or her to a trance party. I used to do this before because i was eager to introduce this beautiful music to some people.
Most people simply DO NOT GET IT. I have not had A SINGLE friend that really understands the core of psytrance. Many people don't understand the tiny particles that compose this culture, this music, these people.
So you take somebody to a club and then these people become strangers. They keep going to clubs with their friends. They learned something new. New kids on the block, you could say.

This girl once asked me: Have you taken E before? I laughed in her face. I just shrugged my shoulders. The answer was really not important. That all-american girl who likes Korn, Limp Bizkit, Jay Z and Shawn Paul, thinks that it's all about that! Dirty dancing with some stranger, getting drunk and popping pills. It hurts me so much. People like that begrime the culture that we are part of. Do I tolerate something like this? I tolerate everything. Let them be what they want to be.

But how long does it last?

It is so sad when people only do psytrance because of the chemicals. But the day after, they are the plain old themselves. They put on a psytrance CD that was given to them by somebody and they turn it off right away, not being able to listen to this music under normal circumstances.

In big New York clubs, and even in clubs in Macedonia, it is universal, it's happening everywhere, some people appear out of nowhere and they land their egos on the dancefloor-eyes wide open, locked jaws and clinched fists. They roam the club and they surrender to the music. Many people want to try something new. An alternative way of life, different music, different people. It is everywhere. Cultures mix. I love that phenomena. But the truth is...very, very few people really understand and accept the intelligent and complex ways of psytrance.
Aren't you glad that you are part of the very few that do!

I've witnessed the same although I can happily testify that I've planted the seeds of conversion in quite a few individuals. Some blossomed into beautiful psyflower children while other withered after a season or two.

completely agree with you robomarket....

sometimes it is kinda strange...u go to a nice gathering...instead of seeing smiling faces in the morning u see quite a lot of uncanny faces....people have just forgotten or still not understood that it really adds just by smiling while ur enjoying urself...if u had to just within urself and dint want to care about anyone around and just avoid eye contact...well might as well try a club..no??

but on the other hand i have had some friends who completely hated the music i had been listening to...and dint really understand the kind of parties i went to....now they love it as much as i do...u need to have one special occasion where the neewbie connects with the music and the atmosphere then there is no looking back...

Yea well, I guess its really like described above. U see people who come to parties for psytrance, vibe and atmosphere and then u see people who come there mainly for drugs. Its easy to see who is who. Still, who am i to judge these people as long as they do not bother me, i let them be as long as they let me to be.

you are right.
all the people think that trance addict=drug addict, and thats wrong.
some people in this forum are making them belive in that.

there was a topic few days ago that was talking about how much its cost us to go into a praty.
the list of most of the replayers (dont know how to call them ) includes:
entrance
drinks
drugs...

you see...my point is that they dont think so for no reason, they think so because some people (the minority here) is showing themm tha bad side of psy music.           Mad Melody!!

@shamanizer absolutely right.....
Just let them be... and they will evlove in time....

dont let their trip disturb you as they are on a different level...
you do what you do best and that is spread positive vibes and let them learn what it means

i know that this at times maybe annoying and have experienced it myself....

theres nothing much that can be done about those people yeah.

Now we are talking. Drugs and new commers go together either we like it or not...not so bad btw. Maybe most of us started that way no?

The good question by robomarket is "how long does it last" ? Now here things can become really bad. Shamanizer gave a good point...let em be as long as they don't bother you. But behind this there is a dangerous situation for the user himself. I saw many young people getting wasted within the first 6 months of their "psy reality". Unfortunately they are becoming majority. I mean i rarely see the same faces at parties after these 6 months.

I think that older trancers - whenever they have the chance - should one way or another try to speak with such people and let em know that drugs will finally "win" the game. Let em know that they have to overcome this attitude of "psy trance is only drugs"           don't fuck with me

right. But as lotral said you can unfortunately find many topics who are related with drugs in a way of promoting them. Maybe the mods should pay some attention in such topics. i.e. in the greek section we had many discusions regarding drugs...and i can say that the members were splited in two. Sth like a war between drug users rare users and no users at all.
I admit though that the most intelligent/intellectual members were somehow wining this "war" against the complete relation between drugs and psy trance. But i guess only in the forum ...but anyway it's a start.           don't fuck with me

I think an awful lot of people go a bit crazy when they first get into scenes like this. I'm pretty sure I did. They usually stop turning up after so long, once the drug honeymoon is over, or they get really into the scene and then it's all the better for having them.           "One nation under a groove".

here here

you cant expect somone who listens to korn, slipknot, system of a down, and all those shitty "Nu" metal bands to even begin to understand.

I say this from experience. I never listened to those bands, but I used to be strictly a death metal head. Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Arch Enemy, and whatnot. My friend in highschool from mississipi listened to psy trance, I used to tell him his music was lame and it wasnt talented.

Who knew that I would today be so far into the world of psy trance that I have nearly given up all other musics, just because psy is fucking good.

So much for metal heads understanding. Its possible, but you have to give psy a chance, and if they cant do that, then there is no hope. My friends hear psy, but they dont listen. Close your eyes and listen to the music, just you and the music. Most of my friends watch tv and listen to music, which is not the same.

Yea, people dont get psy trance, albeit for the one explorer who gives it a small chance. Then he or she might have opened new doors. Like I and many people say. Psy trance is more than just music, its a way of life.

hehehe
when i was in school, my good friend and i have been into punk, ska, metal. I have discovered psytrance 3 years ago, and he just kept making fun of me for that "trance shite" i was listening to. Last summer i dragged his ass to the fullmoon festival in germany. He had a blast.
unlike at punk shows, people respected each other, left each other space to dance, people actually danced instead of running into a closed crowd swinging their fists.

afterwards he started listening to psytrance, and now is already planning our next traveling escapades.

2 weeks ago we got two free tickets to see the bloodhound gang. we went there, and got reminded once again why commercial concerts suck. People threw cups of beer and lit cigarettes at the opening bands, people were either standing there or they were punching and pushing each other. the bar DID NOT HAVE TAP WATER and forced the people to buy bottled water or alcohol. you couldnt sit down anywhere without bouncers telling you to get up. the BHG played for 1hr30 and sucked big time. when we looked at our free tickets the price was still written on it, whopping 40 euros.
i payed the same amount for full moon tickets, and that was a week of nonstop performance....

needless to say we went straight to a psyparty afterwards to calm our nerves....

Second that....
In my country, India, there is a vast majority who think Trance=Charas.
The ones you find in the dark alleys, who will do anything to get thier daily fix....

Taking a trip and getting there in a flash is not the cool thing. The circumstances under which you get there is.

Seen quite a few fade away...A few OD cases...Even tried to talk a few of them out of thier misery...

Now, I couldnt care less.
