Ok, can the people that have this problem stated above contribute to this little questionaire...

You cant find psy cds in the shops where you live, you say your only option is the internet. How about you buy your music from the online shops available?

If your answer is "the tax is too high" or some other reason that your countries customs laws make you pay a high rate for the cds... there are ways around this. You could request from the shop that they label the box with the cds as a gift rather than purchased cds, i believe in some countries this bypasses the tax, maybe there are other ideas people??

Would you like the opportunity to buy single tracks, regardless of whether they were released on a compilation or 12", then these tracks are sent to you on cd at full quality, you can buy 1 track on a cd or 8 of your choice, would you take this option? This way youll never buy "bad" music.

Thats just some of my ideas, can anyone add to these?           http://www.nervine-records.com

Apple to sell music online at 99 cents U.S. per song
Content from top 5 recording labels

Allows users to copy tunes to CD

SAN FRANCISCO—Apple Computer Inc. launched its long-awaited online music service yesterday, promising to make the process of buying music on the Internet simple and cheap enough to compete with file-swapping sites the record industry blames for its slump.

Apple said in a statement that its Internet-based iTunes Music Store software would allow users to download music for 99 cents (U.S.) per song without subscription fees.

In addition, users would be allowed to burn songs on an unlimited number of CDs for personal use.

At the same time, Apple rolled out new versions of its popular iPod digital music players with expanded capacity.

Apple said its online song service would be integrated closely with its iPod line, allowing Mac users to buy music over the Internet and transfer it readily to the hand-held players.

"Consumers don't want to be treated like criminals and artists don't want their valuable work stolen," Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said in a statement. "The iTunes Music Store offers a groundbreaking solution for both."

Apple said its online music service would feature more than 200,000 songs from the top five music companies: AOL Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Music Group, EMI Group PLC, Bertelsmann AG's BMG Entertainment, Sony Corp.'s Sony Music Entertainment Inc. and Vivendi Universal SA's Universal Music Group.

Record industry executives have expressed hope that Apple's commercial music offering can lure users away from the file-sharing Internet services that music companies have blamed for slumping CD sales.

Entertainment companies battling to shut down such file-sharing sites suffered a stunning setback Friday when a federal judge in Los Angeles denied a request to shut the Grokster and Morpheus song-swap services, saying they cannot control what is traded over their networks.

Record labels said they planned to appeal the decision, which held that while making unauthorized copies of songs and movies on file-sharing networks was illegal, the companies behind the Grokster and Morpheus online networks were not liable for piracy because they do not monitor or control their users' actions.

Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple has built its strategy around the idea that its Macintosh computers, which represent about 3 per cent of the PC market, could serve as the "digital hub" of a still-emerging digital lifestyle.

So who's going to be the genius to start this for stricly electronic music?

This won't kill CD's in my opinion, it will just make them more efficent.

Think about it, Who makes better compilations then you?

Or how about a set monthly amount that allows you to burn as much as you want and gives the artist compensation based on how many times his music is downloaded?

How much can this change the way people make and listen to music in the future?           Both teams played hard

i just had a vision:
imagine the near future: 2-5 years from now... fiber optic connections for the wealthy, full throttle cable connection for the rest... now there is no problem of having to compress music into mp3 and compromise on losing precious sound levels.... everyone will be trading full WAVs cause it wont be a big deal and time consuming, then we will have a problem... am i wrong? is this not coming?

namhaj dunno bout the 1st part of your question but the 2nd one..regarding single ones..is good..ill probably try that and see what cost it comes out to be..

thing is the internet helps u get as many tracs ..however when u import em u get only a few ..that too for a hefty price..im not saying that record labels should no charge..but they should not ocvercharge...

however..i agree there is no justification in downloading music..specually for free...but i still do it...coz i have no way out...lame? well thas how it is..plur....
