may be nice to have a thread where there's a description of all tools (mixer, compressor, stereo enhancer, ecc..), with posts describing the tool at different levels, starting from a
-basic conceptual description
-when it gets useful?
-further to a more technichally description

it would be easier to find the informations quickly between a load of posts if we all try to follow the same template in the posts

MIXER

A) GENERAL DESCRIPTION
-it's a board with many faders (in a row usually) on it, each with his corresponding gain control (knob usually) .

-allows simultaneous control of basicly the volume (eventually eq, and some other parameters)of many single channels (stereo or mono)

-routes the different input channels to a single ( eventually 2 or more) output channel (stereo or mono) with volume control fader and gain control knob for it.

B APPLICATION
-it's used to mix/layer togheter many sounds/channels that change in volume or fade in & out at different moments

C tACHNICHHAL DESCRIPTION -...?...

D FURTHER COMMENTS
I know this exemple it's no use to anyone but if someone could talk about a compressor, or a hardware tube amplifier etc... would be nice to have a more deep tachnichal sight on it

this might be useful in some cases, yes. but why 're-invent the wheel' when there are so many complete descriptions and tutorials everywhere on the net? couldn't this information be found much more faster using google than this forum's (not so good) search engine? just my 2 cents of course!

Yup agreed... tbh, the amount of stuff that could be written about various pieces of equipment is too big to be summed up by posting here...

Once you get into the technicalities of e.g. a mixer, you get into Analogue vs. Digital territory, then you get into the electronic territory behind it, what makes mixers sound different etc........

Just google what you want to find out.           www.myspace.com/beat_nik
