I like to join this thread , but my first question is do people convert there vst effects to audio make editing and then import them again ?
To make a nice fx make sure there´s no frequency "collision " then afterwards add auto Panning/ delay to it. |

Just found an easy trick to get some twisted FM kind of sounds out of any synth or sample:
Take any preset with a fast attack or some sample you want to mangle.
Throw in Tone 2 Filterbank 2 ( http://www.tone2.com/html/___filterbank2.html )
select preset Robotize in here, and now you already have a nice growling FM sound.
You may add more of the same FX in a row to make it even more crazy or just add some distortion or bit crushers.
Problem only is that it's now just one long sustained sound which releases slowly which sounds maybe nice, but is in itself a bit useless.
What I've done to make it rhythmical is to pull it thru Mgtriggergate.

i love filterbank 2....one of my favs
just a little tip......put on your synth camel space or camel phat......
tweak the knobs untill you will get your unique psy sound.....be sure that the mix knob on camel plug is 50% atleast
also do some automation .....especially the filter on camel very good!

I load a vst into Minihost...

which has a randomize vst parameters feature.. and then it makes something weird and I save the patch.
Then I mess with it in the DAW and eventually bounce whatever I come up with to audio. |

Please forgive me but I don't quite understand. you working in a sampler or synth? different speeds you mean the note sequence and not the sounds themselves right?

my basic twisted fx setup :
Some detuned saws with chorus + LFO on main pitch + Notch filter + Hipass filter with a lot of resonance (controlled by LFO if you want) + phaser + pingpong delay + reverb.
Easy isn't it ?

Well, like he said: In the sequencer. You have to bounce an audiofile first half then double speed. Then back with both files in your sequencer @ original speed.
