why would you add the 40ms track delay ?
And you convert your entire track to mono to check the mix ? Don't really see the point in this. Care to explain

The 40ms delay goes on a copy of the mono track panned the opposite way. So it gives a sort of chorus effect. I think thats what he was getting at.

The point of listening to a whole track in mono is so that every element only has one volume, rather that panning around across 2 speakers. That way it's easier to pick out elements that require a volume adjustment in the mix.

I think..

Although if you listen to your track in stereo (which it will eventually mix down to) and it sounds good, whats the point? I think listening on lots of different systems is much more beneficial.

Checking your mix in mono helps in case your stuff ends up getting played on a mono PA system..

with the small delay sometimes it s sounds better and maybe it s for problem with phase , i m not sure, this trick is often used with guitars.
i find it easyer to do the balance of all sounds in mono, then in stereo i adjust the volume just a bit,it works better for me in this way.

for pads try waves mondo with very small modulation (i like neer 10 bpm) ,for fx it s good too with the lfo sync to the tempo , this plug in is great to give more space to your mix but don t use it too much you can add vibrato style effect to your sound with it too.

can someone explain the use of ghost notes, or hell dead notes.

i understand the low velocity part, but how do you use . i.e. in between full velocity notes, where is the timing?

..and heres a trick i use for bass side-chain

using logics compressor with side chain (in cubase you can probably do similar..) i put it on a buss. link side-chain from kick normally

then set the output of this bus (the ducked signal) to another buss with another compressor. fatten up with the ducked signal with this compressor.

i think an interesting extension on this would be to then buss that compressor to a compressor with drums, and use the NY style method and pump compress.

but i've hit the processor genkai (limit) with my 1ghz powerbook, so I am stuck for the moment (looking to get a quad soon though!!)
