My suggestion - AKG k240, very clear sound, sure you will not hear full bass, but according mid and high they very sensetive and give very true picture. |

I prefer the HD 25's. For DJ use still one of the best, i think. Nearly unbreakable...very loud....cool...
...and for long producing sessions i recommend the velour ear cups..yezzz, very comfortable...hehehe

Sony MDR-7506 (pro) (about $110 US) or for $15 less get the Sony MDR-V6 (NOT the V-600 series or any of its ilk).

Very clear sound? I beg to differ; their sound is not clear and and there's too much treble. OTOH, the bass is good and quite tight. |

anything below 100e or 150e
just to check the higs and stereo image while producing
(i'm blessed i live alone and my studio is in a remote area so i dont bother about noise complains or turning it down after 10)
  roll a joint or STFU :) |

Just got my HD25... never heard such clear highs and mids. The lows could be less rounded if you plan to beatmatch... but these are still the best headphones I've used. Very light and portable too.
One big negative for me is the Headband... feels really flimsy and looks kind of cheap. And the HD25S band is apparently worse.
But heck ... if its sound youre going for this is it!!!! This is all you need if you want to make music... When you put them on the layers of sound just open up. I've discovered the most subtle hidden lines in so many tracks I've heard a million times before.
If its a DJ headphone youre going for (bling included) ... Technics RPDJ1200/1210 are for you. They come with a thicker spiral chord, cooler looking cans and a case to put them in. It looks like its moneys worth.
But the HD25 sounds like its moneys worth

I´ve got de sony V700dj, and I´m happy with them. They didn´t felt apart or broke down.
They were very cheap (89,90), so I can´t expect THAT much, but they´re very nice. Nice bass, clear hi / mid and very practical.
The only bad thing about them is they´re not very confortable. If I spend some time using them my ears starts hurting me. |

I have sony v500's? I think, they are the black smaller ones down from the silver 700's, I use those for DJing I have had them since 1998 most of the stuff is worn off the cups, so they are just the insides of the foamy things (not that noticeable though). I have used these to dj at all different sizes of gigs, enormous make your ear drums bleed type events and small ones too. They have worked fine, only at one time at a very very very loud event were they not quite loud enough. They have been abused and abused and abused and they still keep on going.
For production I have Audio Technica Mf40's I think is the type. They work really good and are very comfortable. They give a very wide range of sound.
Though to be honest I hate using headphones period, I much rather just be producing out loud on the monitors. Alas, music is involuntary invasion of peoples senses so sometimes you gotta use the cans.
Mine work fine for that, when I have to. |
