For people who come to this section there are two sorts of headphones.
Production
DJing
Im personally not a DJ so I can talk only about the production headphones I have.
Personally I have the HD 25 SP, which are a smaller brother of HD 25 and almost half price of it. Im really satisfied with them, they are light, they are comfortable (to me at least) and sit good on my big ears. Mostly I use them at nights when I cant turn my speakers on and they give quite good sound picture.
So, lets continue from here...

I bought the HD 25's, not the sp, the regular ones... Mine are still on their way here from dubai, but the pair i used were just excellant... undoubtedly the benchmark for production headphones that could be used for dj'ing i think.. i love the warning they carry, will cause deafness!! |

I have the same ones.
Don't really like 'm that much.
Used to have the Hd 280's, where OK, but my dog had it for dinner:-)
I think I might buy a Beyerdynamic Dt770 myself one of these days.
I've also heard good things of the SONY MDR-7506.

Whats great abt these is the fact that they are component based so if u break them, should be easy enuff to repair without breaking the bank.. I used to have those sony's that every dude in the world seems to have, but after i broke a 'third' pair, i got fedup. Sennheiser all the way.... |

I prefer the V6 / 7506, as they have a large cup, and a fuller lowend. In my opinion, the Sony V6 / 7506 are the best headphones for under $150, hands down. Picked up a new pair recently on eBay for $75. Nothing else in this price range compares, in my opinion.
Can't coment on most of the others, but Beyerdynamic makes some gread headphones.

Yep, got the same one and very pleased with it. Gives neutral sound and doesn't make you ears tired. It's half open which means if you play loud, the rest of the people in the room is listening to a radio practically... |

I have Sennheiser HD200s and while they have a good low and high freq. range (for the price), their middle range is absolutely awful, way too quiet. They have a rather good soundstage and are quite detailed, but I've heard better.
A few months ago I brought Beyerdynamic DT860s home for extensive testing, but was badly disappointed at them. They had too big a bottom end for electronic music and some high frequency areas were annoyingly emphasized, hitting you in the face. The middle range wasn't satisfactory either; it was somewhat attenuated compared to the bottom and top end and certain mid freq sounds were even thinner than on my HD200s. However the soundstage was bigger and more 3D and the cans were clearly more detailed than my HD200s. The DT860s cost more than twice as much as the HD200s, but the latter are better. Fortunately I could return them and get my money back.

BEYERDYNAMIC DT 990 PRO
got a pair of these about 6 months ago and have been smiling ever since...my mixes on them translate so well to other systems that I have even started prefering mixing on them than my Dynaudios!!! Ive tried AKG 240 (too little bass) Sony DJ 700s (no mids, flat sound) Sennheiser HD 260 linear s (Smooth but no balls) and then heard these beauties. If you like to mix with sound like in a festival these are the ones. Very comfy too. The DT 770 s are a closed design so useful for tracking and if you have to be absolutely quiet, but the 990 s have a marginally better definition and openess to the sound in my opinion. Loud as hell too with good HP amp! ANd relatively cheap for what you get, Heard good things about the pro Sony range but they cost about double...
