i geuss it all comes with routine/experience when it comes to "no rules".

lets say you made a bassline with new eq tryouts...
you just have to finish the track, listen to it on more systems and judge later if it worked or not. (like pushing vs cutting EQ...)

this experience comes with time, i often cant judge fast, i have to refresh ears etc.
and this is not just for EQing!
