No problem.
I'd also add that I've been finding myself using multiple EQ inserts sometimes. Often I'll do a hi pass, then maybe a low pass or not, then I'll find that there's too much midrange so I'll add another eq in the chain, maybe after the compressor or after a plugin that creates more harmonics (phasers, flangers, etc.).

Ok
thanks a lot
Is the equalization different for track production and for live act ?
Because my work sounds in my monitors, but i don't know if it will on a powerful sound system...

I think its so funny..everyone here uses similar ( if not the same) kicks and use muon tau pro or VB-1 for basslines, and then they say thay can t give a precise eq advice cause each situation is different...he he...that s why sometimes people try to make others believe that is such a tough job to make eq settings. Come on...let s focus on creative sense and let your ears and perception tell you what sounds good aand what really need be worked out.
My advice here is: cut rather than boost. Cut lows below 40 Hz. Try to keep those freqs and you can t go wrong (although I hate general tips): kicks on 50 Hz to 120Hz range and bass between 120 and 180Hz (make them understand each other by tweaking ). Some mid low to mid enhancement on bass will make it jump out from the bass Cut low freqs for leads, pads, hats, and all others that doesn t need to sound low (tewk till you find how much should u cut) and finally learn how to choose which between the instruments that will sound together cause eq always is a matter of the right choice |

have a question about kickdrum eq settngs .. now , tell me please where exactly does this sub bass (feel only ) reside ? by defenition is it the bass that you feel only or most lower freq is refferd to as sub bass ? im talking about faster 145 - 150 bpm psytrance kicks .. where do i highpass them to keep enough thump and body in it and yet not be very muddy and leaving unwanted bass freqs .. on this forum i have read some posts of some of the senior members , artists and there seem to be conflicting views , some say not to highpass the kick at all , some sugest hipassing at 60 - 80 , now i dont have good monitors unfortunately , and im trying hard to get a good kick bass combo that would translate well into other systems so pls dont give me the famous `use ur ears` .. soo .. where do i highpass my kick ?
currently i do the following
Kick :
(-6) highpassed 50 with Q 1.41 waves req 2 band
Bass :
(-7.5) highpassed 60 with Q 1.41 waves req 2 band
Ultrafunk fx compressor
attack 0.0
release 250
thresh -16.9
ratio 29.9 : 9
knee hard
Waves Q8 paragraphic eq :
Gain 0.5 on 100 - 150
-1.5 on the 3 k mark ..
i then group the kick and bass together and manually adjust the volume ( no eq , compressor on this group )
this is what it sounds like :
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=216DF2EF658D08FA
sounds okish to me but the kick seems to be standing out .. at least on some other systems that iv tried it on. help me ?

I think you're highpassing the kick & bass way too high..50 hz is where all the sub lies and if you high pass there it'll lack some low end ooomph which will definately show on systems that go down that low..
I personally don't highpass kicks just do the bass around 30-35hz..
