The Misted Muppet - From The Legend (Trancelucent)

One of the rare occassions that a copycat supercedes its origininator. 'From the Legend' bites a lot harder than BP Empire and Converting Clubheads although Mushie classic trax like 'the Shen' or 'Return of the Shadows' are a tad too high yet for The Misted Muppet to grasp.
Apart from this minor gripe, 'From the Legend' is the most relentless attack of goaish trance since ...well, far too long. Its fifth gear central, the 303 pops up everywhere and go crazy as it should be and clever breaks make it also a worthwhile homelistening experience. In fact, this album sounds way better after 10 listens than the first; some surprising replay value in this one.
Didn't expect it to happen but I prefer 'From the Legend' over Electric Universe' Cosmic Experience; my personal stronghold thus far for 2004 in these scary prog/full-on times. Blue mup...eh Misted Muppet delivered an Isratrance classic happily sitting alongside Space Cats 'Beam me Up', Tandu's 'Multimoods' and ...IM's 'the Gathering'.
9/10.

just heard the samples
looks like a quality release, somewhat gothic and spooky melodies, the whole concept of the album reminds me D&D...
btw, nice drawing on the cover.

HEHE, Yeah...it really reminds this stuff u know that ?
Their album's concept is somehow connected to fairy tails and stuff...so somewhere - it fits.
its an epic album, pure epic.
i dont think that someone did something like this before...

Much better then i thought, good if you are in a crazy mood. 8/10. Their are similerities berween the old infected and the TMM, but in whole; a great debut.

Well the truth is that everybody sais that their style is very similar to infected.
i heard this album few times repeatedly and didnt notice any sign for infecteds style.
u can say it on different acts like "black & white" or "sub 6" and talpa
but...
the truth is that...nothing sounds like infected in their album.
weird.
a lot of people think that everything that is a bit original and not regular - sounds like infected.
misted muppet has its own acidic style.
with a lot of running power. |

Its very very I.M influnenced. I am not saying its not great, its just sounds alot like Infected Mushroom

Classical mushroom - influenced, maybe.
But think about it...almost everything in psytrance would sound like IM CLASSICAL
becuase IM CLASSICAL contains so much different elements in it...so everything would sound like infected's work.
they have covered such a wide range of sounds and ideas that...everything would be similar to theirs...
and thats why people always says almost about everything they hear...
"hey !, its like IM CLASSICAL"

This is certainly one of the best releases so far this year. I believe it draws comparisons to IM simply because it is very melodic, in both dark and uplifting ways, but quite "full on" at the same time.
This "style" of psy is definitely my favorite because it's complex enough to reward repeated listening, yet fares well on the dance floor as well.
Highly recommended!
