also texas faggott make good live (no cdj involved!) and squaremeat is also nice tho only controllers activated (for using cutoff and stuff) thats from what i saw.. and yeah there are assholes who play cd and say its live :\

IMO the best definition of Live Acts is: The Artists playing their own music, with some of the equipment they use to produce their music (including Computers). Simple as that.

Ok.... lets see ...... so what some of u are saing is if Rolling Sotnes spend hours mastering their music and getting everything in sync they should just lip linc and pretend to be plaing their music... since they've spent so munch time in the studio making their music sound as good as possible...... if thats what I wonted I would just pop in the f*** CD and thats it..... I wanna see the producers do something new and unique right there in front of me.... I know a Live act starts a long time before the act it self just like a rock concert has its reharsals but man.... come on we have been seteling for too little...... there are REAL ARTIST and musicians in our scene so lets give THEM the value they deserve....
If an artis pruduces "only" with a lap top... cool no prob but please use ur creativity and fool around with the music... make something new so that we can have a real live expirience of music!!!

dj set ...even me I could do one and maybe better from other who call their selfs a dj.

I've always been told the "P.A." in "Live PA" stands for "Personal Appearance"... so, technically, just showing up counts....
I've seen plenty of "live" shows where the artist only had a limited amount stuff they could do "live", but they made an obvious effort to make new versions of their songs and also had obviously made a produced edit set that flowed the songs seamlessly, better than a DJ could do.

i couldn't agree more. its a totally different and amazing experience to see electronic music made right in front of you. after seeing acts like spacegirl or deepsky, the "laptop live" just seems way to half-assed. |

I disagree vector_0, I think that the laptop live is more assed than the keyboard and virus live.

why do you say? anytime i've seen a laptop live they just sorta push "go" and stand there for an hour and a half. |

Well during my live sets I play a grand piano, 3 saxophones, a double bass and a 12 piece Yamaha drum kit - all at the same time.
Just you wait until I learn to sing....
