The Meaning Of Life

... and so he said that i only live for my belly ... that is clear and reasonable ... none of us, as reasonable beings can live otherwise than for our belly. and suddenly the same person says its bad to live for the belly and that one should live for the truth, for God (whatever it might be), and i understand him from a hint! And i and millions of people who lived ages ago and are living now, wise men and women who have thought and written about it, saying the same thing in their vague language ... we're all agreed on this one thing ... what we should live for and what is good. I and all people have only one firm, unquestionable and clear knowledge ... and this knowledge cannot be explained by reason ... it is outside it, and has no causes, and can have no consequences ...
if the good has a cause, it is no longer the good ... if it has a consequence or a reward it is also not good ... therefore the good is outside the chain of cause and effect
and i know it ... and we all know it ...
is it possible that i've found the solution to everything and that my sufferings are now over ?
i used to say that in my body, in the body of the plants and animals, an exchange of matter takes place according to physical, chemical and physiological laws ... and that in all of us, along with the trees and the clouds development goes on ...
... development out of what ?? into what ?? an infinite development struggle ?? ... as if there can be any direction of struggle in infinity ...
... and i was astonished that in spite of the greatest efforts of my thinking along that line ... the meaning of life ... the meaning of my impulses and yearnings was still not revealed to me ...
yet, the meaning of my impulses is so clear to me that i constantly live by it ... and i was amazed when he revealed it to me ... to live for the soul ... for the good ...
... i havent discovered anything ... i've only found out what i know ... i've understood that power which not only gave me life in the past but is giving me life now ... i am free from deception ... i have found the master ...
what would i be and how would i live my life if i did not have these beliefs ... if i did not know that one should live for the soul and not exclusively for our belly? i would rob, lie, kill ... nothing of what constitutes the main joys of my life would exist for me ...
i sought an answer to my question ... but the answer to my question could not come from thought, which is incommensurable with the question ... the answer was given by life itself, in my knowledge of what is good and what is bad ... and i didnt acquire that knowledge through anything ... it was given to me as it is to everyone ... given because i could not take it from anywhere ...
... where did i take it from ?? was it through reason that i arrived at the necessity of loving my neighbour and not throttling him ?? i was told as a child and i joyfully believed it, because they told me what was in my soul ... and who discovered it ?? not reason ... reason discovered the struggle for existence and the law which demands that everyone who hinders the satisfaction of my desires should be throttled ... that is the conclusion of reason and law ...
... reason could not discover the love for one another ... because its unreasonable ...
and i know it ... and we all know it ...
and dont all philosophical theories do the same thing ... leading man by a way of thought that is strange and unnatural to him to the knowledge of what he has long known so certainly that without it he would not even be able to live ?? is it not seen clearly in the development of each philosophers theory that he knows beforehand the chief meaning of life and only wants to return by a dubious mental path, to what i and everybody knows ??
so go on ... leave us to ourselves ... with our passions and thoughts ... with no notion of what the good is and no explanation of moral evil ... go on ... try building something without those notions!
... we destroy only because we're spiritually sated ... exactly like children who destroy food in games because they don't know where it came from nor the work that was made to produce it ...
yes ... what i know i do not know by reason ... it is revealed and given to me ... and i know it by my heart ... by faith in that main thing that the good confesses ... and suddenly true bliss and inner peace is at my grasp ...
... but i know nothing ... nothing ... and can know nothing but what ive been told along with everyone else ... ... can this be faith ??
... this new feeling hasnt changed me ... hasnt made me happy or suddelny enlightened as i dreamed ... nor was there any surprise ... but this feeling has entered into me just as imperceptibly through suffering and has firmly lodged into my soul ...
... ill get angry the same way ... argue with the ones i love in the same way ... speak my mind inappropriately, and there will be the same wall between my soul's holy of holies and other people ...
... ill acuse them in the same way of my own fear and then ill regret it ... ill fail in the same way to understand with my reason why i pray (and to whom) and yet in times of trouble i will still do it ...
but my life now ... my whole life ... regardless of what may happen to me ... every minute of it ... is not only not meaningless as it was before but has the unquestionable meaning of the good which is in my power to put into it !!

My take on the meaning of life is that "life is empty and meaningless and it's meaningless that it's meaningless". That statement is more of a zen contemplation exercise that it is an answer. However, there's a lot of freedom that comes from that statement. When you reach meaningless then what is left? The freedom to create whatever you want!
If the universe(s) are indeed infinite then meaning losses a whole lot of relevance. I think it is mans ego and grandiosity that gives us a sense of some great purpose to our existence. Our consciousness may not be all that unique in the universe. Our level of consciousness that we have achieved might actually be puny and basic compared to a more advanced civilization. We could also be wiped out tomorrow by a huge asteroid and no one would ever know we existed. How meaningful and grand would our existence then be?

Dear Ket Sci, you had a wonderful realization and it's more valuable then academic knowledge. It looks that it came to you suddenly and I guess that you were under influence of a psychedelic. I had done some research, both in theory and practice, that answers some of your questions.
Cosmos is full of evidence that an evolution is occurring and it's also taking place in everyone of us. What you are leaving behind is your distorted perception and what you are struggling for is clarity. Just like a sample in goa trance track made by Dimension 5: "observe and act with clarity".
It's very healthy to be aware that increased awareness caused by psycho-stimulants won't last long and soon you will be struggling with your well-known mental distortions. If you want this heightened state of awareness to be permanent then you need to start doing some serious practice. If you seek some advice, just ask. I'm no guru but I could provide you with some hints.
Here's a tip: respect your teacher biochemicals if you don't want to damage your psyche. |

I think that what Ket Sci said is beautiful and i fully agree with what he posted...It does not matter were he got the realization from because the truth is that realization lies within ones soul and not only through psychedelic experiences...I feel that right now change is happening from the inside of each and every one of us and everybody is suddenly realizing how good we can be and how beautiful this life can be by just putting good energy into it and sharing this love we have inside with each other!
This is for me the meaning of life in this body and in this spirit sharing and uniting the energies in the one that we are!

live on free will............... make mistakes,laugh ,make fun,become a joke,become a celebrity in your own circle , create , procreate or dont , fantasize , work , eat , drink , do good at least try , be yourself , be happy , be sad if need be BUT most of all dont just survive LIVE ...... rest will happen by itself for which you long for  BE SPONTANEOUS
To focus sometimes you need to spin hard on your soul's axis..... just don't ask how and what it means ;) |

forget everything... what everyone tells you about life..live your own experience...do not follow someone else's ideals or morals or views...find your own forest and chop the timber to build a house thats suits you...be independent create your own drift and let wind chase you
