Just list your favorite synth after I heard Virus TI is not the best one
Just a little talk, opinions
Is there any reason to buy synths or is it good enough to use vst "" |

The virtual instruments nowadays do have a very high standard, but i still think hardware does have its personal touch and i prefer the "hardware" sound.
I have a Novation X-station that i enjoy very much, i dont think u can compare it to a virus ti thou, 2 diffrent leagues.

In the studio there is a Novation Nova desktop its an oldie yet a true goldie, u just cant get those sounds from a software synth without squeezing the crap out of it with inserts and sends.

supernova and nova are the best value for money nowadays... u can get them cheap and its no mistake!
we got a kstation and im expecting the nova to arrive friday! (still dont know why i sold it 4 years ago) got it on ebay for 320e
also nord lead 2/2x is a great synth for ultra sharp leads and basses! again can be found cheap!
waldorf blofeld is what i call.. pay 380e get 1000e of sounds in a small box.. bargain!! and great to take on stage this thing is small ( our next buy)
korg ms 2000r is also good and cheap second hand.
will not be ur first choice for sounds but capable of great leads nice arps and some wacky shit with its delays.
virus a is good value also...

soft synths and VAs are jsut as good nowdays.
I would not bother with digital synths, unless its the new nord modular.

Sure most of the elements in my tracks are also VSTi but thats because i am "lazy" and they offer alot of great stuff, you just have to know what to tweak and what to remove.

For the sake of convenience, I use analog oscillators with plug in filters. cause I can't be asked to re-record stuff in as audio, cause I fine tune the filters as I mix.

I use 90% VSTi. Still... for those weird and special sounds, nothing beats tweaking hardware synths. More because of the tactile interface than the actual sound but still... the sound does contribute a bit too.

I use mostly vsti, for leads I am very happy with my Desktop Evolver from Dave Smith Instruments.
Pipe and slippers. I learned how to use a synth on a doepfer, just like you have and I can say it is a killer machine. Once you know how to use a Doepfer you know how to use all synths...
Great Synth!

Next to the Doepfer I had in uni, was a DX-7. I really liked some of the presets, but fucking hell, I never got around to making a decent sound. I HATED programming that synth.
