More and more we have softares that by some way make the things simple to us, its quite seldom to find a "live" with synths, keyboards and so on. We see most of time laptops and the interesting stuff is that it sounds so good as a hardware stuff. In fact, thinking in the level of the song...we can do the same thing with softwares and even more than with hard ones...in fact it scaries me about the future, about the "concerts"...where is the bad face, the blood, the sweat, the smell...you know human stuffs with music...I wonder if we are loosing of it...maybe the good point is that the only thing that really matters is the music... |

NO, u'r crazy man, lives never gonna stop, where did u get that from?
I think that there is to many ppl taking psychedelic music on the net, in result there is many artists that must make lives to survive. |

what is the difference between a hardware sequencer and a software sequencer?
what is the difference between a hardware synth and a software synth (except for the interface)??
why is a-dat hardware more live than a laptop with a sequencer?

Amen my brother ! People said the same things when musicians started using electric guitars and basses. It's still humans making the music you know... The computer is just an instrument. |

I agree totally with you Boobytrip, and Im not really talking about the end of lives because I
imagine that its never gonna stop. Im really talking about how it is gonna be, the way it is gonna happen. I know that there is lot of human stuffs in the eletronic music but the "weird" thing is that you dont need really instruments at all, we cav have all in a laptop and you know that most of lives are just pre-configured on the sequencer and on this way I think we are losing some things how the "improvise" for example. The point is not that if it is bad or good ok, even because if we are losing some stuffs indeed we are gaining others (that is the life), it is just the different way, it is just how the next generation is going to know the music, if will the lives lose definetely the hardwares and all will become just soft stuff..? |

Iteknoz > hm, i think i get your point. It would indeed be nice if there was someone on stage drumming on a midi-pad, someone tweaking a midi-controller, and someone playing melodies on a keyboard. You will have more interaction; between the musicians themselves and between the musicians and the crowd. I remember from playing in bands that this jamming can be truly magical. Problem is that it's really hard to get this thing working, but if you succeed, you will get loads of bookings, that's for sure. In the old days (ghehehe) there were bands playing and they wanted to make a recording of the thing they were doing all the time: performing live. In Psytrance, most artists are only producing recordings in the studio, and they get asked to do it live, because that's what people are used to. For a band it's new to get into a studio, and for most psytrance-producers it's new to get on stage, performing live (of course this is nog the case for all artists). |

nine inch nails uses real musicians to remake what they do in the studio on stage., same with ministry. Hux flux can be one of howmany four or three guys , maybe two of them , but when I saw hux flux it was just dennis taper. He had a computer and a mixxing board , and a sh-101, and a midi controller. He was very animated and seemed to be actually doing something. quasar plays live sometimes and uses a laptop and a midi keyboard. I actually messed him up by trying to talk to him while he was playing. Not at all like djing or fake . I geuss if you just pushed play and let your pre sequenced stuf go then that would be un-cool. I think that musicians need to have some personal integrity to push themselves and not just to fake it and be milly vanilly. from what I have seen must artists are about pushing themselves and that is cool. Sure Live sets vary in many ways from one artist to another but these variances don't make any artist less significant then another. Sure when you see ministry with a real drummer and guitars and basses and such playing stuff that you could do on laptop it is cool . this doesn't negate what a person do with a mid keyboard and laptop... ableton live is supposed to be real fun to work with....
