eheheh psydarknes.. italy is too "old fashion" for this music. There has never been a real scene and probably never will. Everything is about fashion, what's cool now and almost everyone follows tv-crap-shows. The only club where people are hanging at are boring commercial discos either playing r'n'b/hip hop or dance/disco/revival or house or rock clubs. There is no space for this music, organizers are few and parties are usually a pain in the ass to organize; if u rent a club high chances are that u wont fill it and therefore loose the renting money; if u do it illegally in a forest you may find the tekno travellers coming thinking is a waste/drug party and the vibe will be ruined. Now the only peopel whoa re organising something decent are some fellas in Milano and some others in Rome, specially Neurobiotic Records who's taking the risk of making the first psytrance festival this year in the summer calling artists like Simon Posford(!!!) and more .. maybe that will be the first real psytrance party! boom! |

hmmm!
I hope Sonica 2005 will make a difference in the Italian scene.
but hey you said:
There has never been a real scene and probably never will..
Isn't Sonica a good start?
It's definetly one of the best line ups of this year (probably the best)
Buona fortuna ad Eduardo e tutti gli Italiani appasionati di musica trance! |

Some of 604's magical past also belongs to Italy; Pleiadians IFO album and Etnica till the Equator album were amazing and up there with the best of Israel and the UK. |

I have had the luck to live in Italy for several years and my personal experience brings me to the conclusion that it will be very difficult to have a real "psy-scene" there.
The only way that "psy-scene" can be developed is if it will become extremely mainstream. No offence for the italians, but in Italy everything is all about "fashion-mainstream-looking nice-being trendy". Of course this is happenning across all around the world (mainstream and fashion is everywhere)...but unfortunately in Italy is very difficult to develop the "new", the "different".
From the other side, I ve met a lot of people in parties/festivals and I can say that the Italians are the most nice party people I ve ever met....
I hope to see more parties/festivals in Italy, and I would like to express my personal wishes for Sonica2005....
Have fun
