You think there would be mixed version as well , as i haven't had the oppertunity to see such and such most occasions but it would be nice to hear what there like on dexs .

Or do Psy dj's don't do mix albums ?

The most recent example of a psytrance compilation with a mixed CD is "Wreck Chords". The first CD is the compilation itself, while the 2nd CD is some of the biggest Spun "hits" in recent years, mixed by Wrecked Machines.

I bought the release, but honestly haven’t listened to the mix-CD yet.           DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

va - inner panic from manic dragon recs contains a cd that's mixed, goa gil's compilations are also mixed (even though you really wish he wouldn't do that)

the less mixed compilations there are, the better imho, i hate to hear a tune that's absolutely awesome, but i can't use to mix myself

The worst is the lame little ambient mixing they do on some compilations... it's not a "seamless journey" just because the intros/outros are blended. Now these tracks cannot be used as well in a set... take for example DJ Exanimo's excellent Moonwalk from Vibration 4 - as a DJ I need to give it a harsh send off before the last 20 seconds play out, all because the percussive intro from the following track is mixed in, and it's off-beat! I really wish labels would deliver unmixed compilations OR actual mix releases (which I wouldn't buy, honestly) not some weird hybrid of the two.

The other thing I would wonder about is just how these mixed compilations are mixed... assembled in a studio, recorded on the fly, or some combination?

Interestin replies i must say .. as woulda thought that being in the scene you would have at least fair idea of the tracks ..already !!.
Seems not the case as unlike that of the mainstrean scene where a good amount of dj's already have heard whats listed on alreadt mixed albums ..

the cpc album uber den angst, although not a va is one of the best(if not the best) mixed cd/dj sets released on a cd ever

IMO i dont see how a mixed cd could affect a dj that much

Intros/outros get scalped... and in the example I noted, the pre-mixed nature of the song prevents a clean mix out in a performance/recording context.
