There is a whole other World of politics that most here aren't aware of. If you have Skype or the funds you can sit in at the table for World parties during the Winter seasons or be apart of the "It ain't what you know, its who you know"... I've heard a lot about the crews mentioned in this thread but they don't bother me so I will not bother them, I say this from a personal level only. We could break down politics and find lots of crews not following their preach.
I will say:
Boom is ran by Diogo and his partner and they hire the crew which makes up other World crew members that throw parties and there are some good ones coming... Its a 7 month, 16 hours a day worth of work for the core group that is hired. Over 700 artist are booked and all the other things that come with it, very stressful. For what they offer, the gate price is fair. No one should get mad at Diogo for not doing anything else, it's just him and his partner living life that deserves the rewards of two peoples hard work. They aren't capitalizing off taking from the scene although it may seem that way.
Who doesn't gouge on water and if it's free or cheap, are you sure your not getting gouged elsewhere? I fully agree that it should be free if you have the attendance to pay for it in ticket price. Maybe it's vendors(shake down street)or the venue, then ask the crew why they would allow such enlightenment. Go to the source instead of guessing why. The "Water Wars" are coming and have already started but are masked at this time..
Gaian Mind is ran by a crew that does other events. This isn't the same as Boom although it seems to be attempting to follow the same foot steps in growth and sound but in internal crew form in the World circuit. I personally have had two great experiences at their events and played on the chill stage with not one crew member saying thanks, which is a reason why I stopped going. I played to help out and was treated like I should of been honored to play. No big deal, its just something I noticed. Hopefully their new venue will lower the gate price and allow for louder volume in sound.
Orb and Alladin, they do not reply to emails which leads one to think lots of things. No.. no one wasn't asking to play, they were being asked something else in the neighborhood of 14 emails over 2.5 years.
Naked tourist and psysex at least tell us what their game plan is, sex.. Maybe, some of us are lucky and don't need to capitalize off the movement to get laid or to make advances up the ladder. Didn't Kiss already do that and isn't that what Simon and his boys have been doing? I used to listen to psysex and I stopped listening to Naked Tourist when they dropped that sample talking about dancing and phucking. Yeah, sex is a dance but get more creative with the samples, please. Then again, Naked Tourist is club music so I guess its on point for alcohol and booty calls.
"Those stupid jackets with glowing spikes on em" is a reflection of the Space Tribe company, Olli Wisdom and brother Mike. Fashion itself came with the movement back in the 60's. I personally like the eye candy, its fun and interacts with the psychedelic eye. If its a waste of money, be glad its not yours. Have you ever notice that most artist wear black clothing? What's that all about? What about all the people who deck themselves out then don't dance because they will sweat and loose their makeup?
The USA biggest cultural values that I've heard when abroad, outside of our government is WE TAKE. Our largest cultural roots are on reservations.
The economy and the local scene seems to be about selected crews and fashion leaning towards nudity.
Smells like an Economic Depression is underway without any hope.....

As far as "price gouging" goes, the only way I'm going to willingly pay 2-3 euros, or around 5 american dollars, is if I know that the profits will be used for charity....is this the case with boom? ....I can't remember off the top of my head, but who's that group who advertised their water/drink concession service in mushroom mag's trancers guide to the universe...."wave bar" i believe....if they can sustain a business with selling water at lowest prices, then there's really no excuse for trying to recoupe losses or any other self-based reason by ripping off people who did pay for your event because others didnt, and if you fuck an already small crowd over, its just gonna get smaller.....
Even at simple big-box store prices, I'm pretty sure the profit from selling a bottle of water for 1$ is at least 200%..... and we always give away tons of drinks to people working/helping/playing, and I cant think of any event no matter how small that we actually lost money on water vending....
But like I said, prove to me that you're funnelling the profits to a deserving charity or other entity, I'd pay a couple extra bucks to offset the true externalities of bottled water, which is really a shitty and destructive commodity that creates tons of useless waste and is potentially dangerous, I think re-use of the same bottle should be re-enforced however necessary, but in some cases, you just CANT drink the tap water, and in such a case bottles should be cheaper, OR have a gatorade-style dispenser without plastic cups that is free.... reduce reuse recycle
And about the nakedness.... if well intentioned, got no problem with a little ball freedom....but then again, there does seem to be a type of person who is a "nudist" and is "free" with their body, to the point of trying to showcase themselves being "natural" and you "not".... nude on, but please, keep it to yourself....if i wanna look, i will....but dont try and make me stare, because i will, and if i get uncomfortable, i'll make sure you know it....

Well if glow-in-the-dark cock rings make you squeamish, then it's probably not your thing.

It wouldn't make me squeamish. I'd probly just tell people they should stab themselves in the face and laugh at them. Is that mean?? lol

Thanks a bunch. Glad you like! I would if I could right now. I'm about to be traveling overseas for an extended period of time though so me going up there to play might be kinda difficult for the amount of people who are familiar with me up there (I'm estimating it's not a lot).

and at sams and other wholesale stores bottled water is as little as 14 cents per bottle..
making the profit on a dollar bottle like over %400 if I'm not mistaken and you can do the math on 2.50
seeing as water is needed to prevent deaths from dehydration.. it becomes a decent idea to keep the price as low as you can while still making a considerable sum of money..
seems to me 10000 people or whatever it was, times like multiple bottles per day for however many days, your talking a huge volume here.. meaning the cost per bottle was minimal and the profit was considerable.
good for them right, how capitalist. but seriously, dollar bottles after you paid that much to get in wouldnt have anyone complaining. food for thought.

But don't forget all the infrastructure necessary to supply 20000+ people with drinking water. You can bring your own water, (port wine!) or use the taps provided. I only bought water a couple of times then refilled using the taps. Of course I bought beer and that was something like $3/can but it was pretty cold, decent (Sagres) beer. The food and drink vendors were very organized, definitely professionals. They had some kick-ass pizza! Even for the $225 I paid for Boom and the afterparty I got a week and half of music and cohort with people from all over the world.
