With all do respect, I didn't just discover dubstep. The old stuff is more like listening to house music in a 2 step, or what became modern dub today. The wobble step and brostep et cetra are by in large, a steaming pile of shit. Melodic and melodic wobble can be good at times, when they are ambient fusions.
However, up until recently there was never really any branch of psychedelic dubstep/dub fusions. That is what you are seeing here, and that is probably why more people are interested.

it does all depend on taste. I think many people tend to do the mistake of doing general judgements of music linked to there own likings. I would never call some music generally crap.
Or well: Either nothing is generally crap or everything is generally crap.

These type of tracks reminds me of what Audiojack did for the techno/minimal scene. Just a technical show off with lots of automations and sick quality in the production. And I agree, there's not a lot of depth in it, it's more like shallow admiration from my side

It can be terrible, when done improperly. but when done right, it's rather magical, and this is coming from someone who finds most dubstep detestable.
edit: btw you are right on that sxillrix track that is laser bass aids stabbing in my ears.

It's been happening for at least 2 years already I would say
With dub for sure, but with dubstep? May be it's very infancy was two years ago, but had you heard a psychedelic dubstep artist two years ago like Lunecell or Bird Of Prey?

The only two artists that I've heard that I think could define as Psystep are Bird of Prey and Lunecell. I could also say some of what Nit Grit does could almost be defined as psystep, but he is still too focused on short melodic tracks or laser bass-ing everyone to death.
