Is that it's much harder to cooperate with another artist if you'r using a specific hardware setup. I realy can't see a way that I could do this efficiently, which is a bummer.

And if someone is using let's say Reaktor and the other guy is using Reason?
Different stuff.

Still - it's much less of a problem to port from one software to another.

But most trance artists also have the same kind of equipment. Take for example the Nord, or Juno. And if someone is using some Yamaha or Roland stuff, it's easy to get used to the other Yamaha or Roland too.

But I'm not limited to trance alone.
I even like doing some non - psychadelic stuff.
Back when I was still tracking (high school days)
I worked with a friend of mine. Each of us worked on his ideas at home and when we met we compared and composed our tracks of the best ideas we both had. This method cannot be achieved with hardware...

I think that it does'nt matter how much you or your friend know each others equipment.
cause if it's in your studyo you guys are working so you will do the dirty work of actually tuching the hardware and vice versa.
I did some tracks with people that didnt know the first thing about music creation and it turned out quite nice.
Good luck

Well it's not like that.
When I get togather with someone in order to create music we don't want to spend any time on technical stuff, so I do all the dirty work.
But this kinda leaves the other guy out of the picture.

Why it leaves the other guy out of picture? Because you know how to operate the hardware and he doesn't?
I made a track (ask Ron :)) with a guy, that all he knows about hardware is how to turn the power on and how to play the keys. But we made it together not because we programmed and wrote too, but because he had ideas, he told me them and I wrote them. Without him the track would suck.

I tried it that way. That same guy I used to track with, I tried to work with him again, this time on hardware. It didn't work, because we had to come up with all the ideas while working. The right way to do it, as I see it, is to prepare the ideas alone and then to com pare them with somebody elses. Anyway, it takes alot of time to implement complicated ideas, and he just got bored of seing me playing around with gear.

And besides, it takes alot of sessions to complete a track, and we can't work on it togather all the time, which means I'll have to do most of the work alone, eventually.

So you can just implement the general idea of whatever you want without working too much on it, and then when the other guy has to leave you can sit and perfect it.

Ahhhh....I can remember the good old days of highschool....
Me and this guy I worked with took tracking pretty seriousely.
We met each morning at 9:00AM sharp (or even sooner!) and tracked away the whole day.
I remember even arguing was fun. :)
At some point we would get tired of working seriousely and start making silly stuff...
Like once we made a happy-hardcore version of "Sussie Surprise"... if you hear this - it will make you pee in your pants...:)
