Indeed! And I like that because the big producers searching a new style to develop, they make experiments in their studios..the result new music hybrids,of course still on minimal formulas but the whole track is getting out of minimalism. As the article says the dub techno hybrid and some more housy stuff are on fire, some old producers in techno started again to use heavier loops and increasing the bpms, but the most important is that those new sounds hasn't lost their lysergic effects that gained from minimal so can't wait what will come next!

Around 1997 or even 1996 Tsuyoshi in his legendary "Matsuri" label released a compilation called "Let it R.I.P" commenting on the death of Goa trance / Psy trance.
Psy or not, it still gathers so many parties around the globe, some places 20000 ppl raves and Festivals such all over the planet that draw more than 10,000 participants.
So dead, dying, going to die, deceased etc.. it is more terminology for philosophically challenged Forum inhabitants. In real life it's a bit different...
The beats are definitely not new, but they weren't new 3 years ago either...

Anyway, everywhere you see some fullon producers making minimal techno or house with thousand of cliche, it means sooner or later (much sooner than later i hope), this music will die...
Opinion is something between knowledge and ignorance.

Personnaly, I've always been very suspicious of fake prophets but real blasé or snob, who always feel the need of being fashionable in order to "like" something. The reality is often that they've never liked anything, cuz they're incapable of judging by themselves or simply incapable of personnal taste.
So are dead, Charlie Parker, Monk, MIles Davis, Coltrane, the Duke or Charles Mingus. or F Zappa. who gives a damn? they were real creators & their music is still enjoyed by true music lovers. Real creators are true to their heart, always beyond the trends because they shape them. So my guess is that we do not determine our aural pleasure from what's trendy.

this is music evolution going on a circle... everything returns to the point where it started, anyhow techno started its second circle...
minimal - was just well promoted brand , that in last 5 years not really corresponded to the most of the music labeled as "minimal", same happened to "electro" which is now is kind of curse:)))
anyhow.. good music is alive for ever, doenst metter how its labeled!
