????? you mean exporting to an mp3 sounds terrible, but exporting to a wav file sounds ok but the file is large?
That's just the way it is, although exporting to mp3 should sound ok with a high enough bitrate... and will be totally unsuitable for further processing (eg. mastering).

hi idka
please try to explain your problem a bit clearer, then we can help you better.
try the following:
1) check your mix. are you happy with it? does it sound balanced? do some channels clip? probably, re-mix.
2) don't include any maximizers, multiband comps and such on your master bus. insanely-boosted L2 is evil on your master bus
3) mix down to 24bit wav (you're going to work with that mixdown further)
4) happy with the mixdown by listening to it? you should, otherwise, go back to earlier stages
5) if you want and if you think you'll able to do it, do a pre-mastering stage here, and in the end, dither down to 16bit WAV.
6) encode to MP3 if you need to
hope i was able to help a bit, otherwise, ask more
cheers

Hi!
Well, if you wan't to put it in myspace just so people can listen to your music while reading you info, try a low bitrate mp3
if you wan't something with the least of quality but the bitrate to 128 Kbps. It should be enough. (I only use lower bit rates for music to be played on my cellphone, cause any quality there sounds the same..)
Like this it takes less time uploading to myspace and less time for people to download (streaming) and listen. It's algo good if you don't wan't people to download your song: if they do, it's in a lame quality.
If you wan't people to have your songs and play them, then the best quality should do it. A variable bite rate (VBR) mp3 at 320 Kbps. It takes a long time uploading/downloading, but your name won't be run down if someone hears your song in a bad quality.
I hope you understand.
