Alrite guys. Here''s the deal. I intend to create this thread to help myself and also others here who would also be willing to know the right kind of equipment to be used to build a home studio. Bring in all ur information with regards to wat u HAVE or wat u wld LIKE to have
in your studio. This way you could get to know of other opinions/choices etc along with urs.
To make things easier i''ll divide into sections.
1. Computers/Laptops
2. Soundcards
3. Sequencers/Daws
4. Synths - hardware/software
5. Midi controllers
6. Monitors
7. Mixers
8. Decks
Feel free to add more to these if you would like. One knows that costs also matter a lot.
But the idea is to name wat u wld like to have either cost wise or just as a wish. Ultimately one would come to know what would suit their budget according to the choices presented here. While giving information it would also be an onus to give links of the product, to help better, if you''d like to. I hope that this thread comes out useful to everyone. Lets get rolling!!

hm..acoustic treatment is as important as good monitors..how can you benefit from good monitors if your room sucks..
and a good pair of headphones..i would recommend beyerdynamic dt990 pro..
and the other stuff depends on your plans and what money you could spend on it..so as soon as somebody knows how he could spend..then you can think about wich gear is right..
good luck!

2. prism orpheus
4. macbeth m3x & m5n

hehe agree about the buchla and the 5.1 system, but I wanted to keep the list at least semi-realistic

You should really pitch out the Behringer Truths. I had a pair and they really didn't tell the truth at all. I could never get a mix sounding right on them.
For a slight but much better upgrade go for the KRK RP-8's. Not that you'll know, but you wont regret getting them in place of the Behringers.

Timesless advice
1. Computers/Laptops - always get the most new technology (or one generation back to save some) - prefer respected companies like Asus or Mac so you have reliable machine..
2. Soundcards - depend on your needs , but RME is always great choise tho expensive , on the other hand M-audio is very cheap and have pritty much ok results.
3. Sequencers/Daws - work with what you feel most comfortable , combine several even is the best way to not miss any option
4. Synths - hardware/software - i like my hardware.. true you can get it with midi control and vst but its actualy not the same.. unless you have 30 knobs on your midi keys.. as well i recomend the keyboard synths not racks , let the space be your problem rather then routing each one seperate evry time and not be able play several in the same time (maybe one day its not just you and the pc..)
5. Midi controllers - baisicly i havnt seen realy good one yet , synth function as the best midi controler i used (much smoother messege , and better fingers 'feel')
6. Monitors - get the best you can afford , and abit better , this is very important part of the production
7. Mixers - the best for home studio is probably is soundcard extra in/out
8. Decks - im a pioneer fan , 100's to the 1000's they all rock , mixer i like better 600 or higher then the 300 for sure (fx section)

I'll have to agree about not using the Behringers. I have a pair, which I just replaced. My friend has the KRK's, and they sound much better (though in his studio the bass is exagerated, but he has no treatment, so I don't know if it's the speakers fault).
I'm sure there are also other better alternative to the Behringers in the price range.
