in a second thought it really depends on the track itself , if u like the sound of the track and the way he fills your room and acoustics you'll probably take the speaker option.
if u preferring to concentrate at the stereo work and the dimension of the track - youll probably hear it with a quality headphones
its a way of perspective. |

i find that listening to psy on headphones is a much better way to feel the music .. its closer.. more personal as opposed to listening to it on speakers ?? do you feel the difference ??. It always happens to me at a party also .. the same track that i know will sound different on speakers . does this happen to you ?? i know this might end up as a stupid question coz when your on your computer then one is likely to listen on headphones // while in the car or chilling on speakers .. missing plug-in |

I listen to most of my music in headphones because after 7.30pm my kids are in bed. I agree, it's a much more personal, intimate and deep experience. I love how listening this way - especially with closed eyes - utterly expands and explores the space inside your head. That's why for me reverby dub drops are soooooo effective. *am tempted to paste my Dub Theory, as written by me when wrecked once with dub in my headphones LOL*
I can only match it with monitors if they are stupidly loud and/or I am standing right next to them so that the sound envelopes me. Suffice to say my ears are pretty fucked. |

maybe its not your ears .. its the sound scape is a whole lot deeper and intimate on headphones .. and one can never truly have the same 'surround' on monitors . maybe one day we have a party where everyone tunes in with cordless headsets made to receive the optimum frequency from the dj console .. just to make the entire experience more sonic and enjoyable .. i belive we are not too far from hitting this mark
and yes out with your dub theory

No, my ears are really wrecked. BUT headphones were my favourite well before I noticed a difference. You're right - the surround effect is beautiful with headphones.
Regarding your idea of cordless headsets, there was a 'silent disco' at Glastonbury this year where people went into the marquis and given headphones while the DJ played music to a silent space - no monitors. I didn't try it and I only got to see it in action very briefly, but it was hysterically funny to watch!!

Nah, it's just stoned shite and very, very embarrassing. I only mentioned it because there's a section in it about dub drops and the expanding headspace thing. |

Definetelly speakers if they sound good...its the only way to "feel" the music shaking your body...
Also, be aware headphones are REALLY destructive to your ears! Much more than speakers! |

Well, with headphones you hear elements that you can't catch with regular speaker systems...
So unless its something expensive and you have no problems with the neighbors use the speakers.
