my faves are:
cybered --
nice dark atmospheres, innovative use of rhythm, agressive undertones, fierce helicopter base lines... ed's the apache attack chopper of psy-tek sound, always coming out with his guns blazing.. if there was an apolcalyptic soundtrack for the end of the world, his work would be featured for sure.. (best tracks: unlimited edition, saturator)
tetraktys --
not the newer proggy stuff, but tracks like "mechanical unit" -- best use of a modem connect tone ever and one of my fave tracks of all time. hard as hell, clean production, a killer. i hope vincent finds a way back to his old ways!
trioptimum --
almost "progressive" but in a very atmospheric-cinematic sense. super-fat super-clean production. best weird harsh noises i've heard in my life -- it sounds like pixels exploding. intricate logical progressive structure precise like a swiss watch. what's not to like? (best tracks: more visual, tiefsee)
pps project --
just when i was almost ready to believe nothing but cheesy shit came out of israel, out came pps project (and, well, pixel) and kicked my ass! it's a bit on the simple side compared to the sophistication of some of the other acts on my list, but PPS Project certainly hit the spot. spooky dark grinders like "katatonic" are more evil than anything xenomorph ever tried to do  (best tracks -- katatonic, swamp thing, craft)
extra cool classics:
eargear - abwaerts kompatibel
this is a classic very techy throbber. very simple structure, super minimal but not 1 sound is wasted and everything is right where it needs to be. worth looking for. nothing they ever did after this kicked this much ass.
midi miliz - flip
i first listened to this track while watching the re-run of the world trade center collapsing and it is the perfect sound track... very "endzeit".. |

thank you very much, but visuals is not from us, and its a fake we have never produced for sure!
other released track from trioptimum: lt compact(zma/kiel connection) this one is realy techy - our album is ready and we hope we will release it this year, but today we have some things to clear with our label at first. stay tuned. |

hmm i stick to my first and always preferred aged choice : PPS PROJECT. damn they guys kick serious booty

@Vincent: good to hear! when I bought the album I was looking for the techy monsters in vain, not that it's not good but I was hoping for more along the lines of Atrophy/Mechanical Unit/type styles...
@Kitnam: really? well, whoever made the fake track sure did a good job. do you know who the real artist is? and, of course I have Kiel Connection... damn fine comp.. |
