Well, with the right combination of sowtware (and alot of hard work), you can achieve pro-sound.
I recomend:
Cubase+Reason+Tonz of Plug-ins
Soft Synths (FM7, Junglist, Absynth, Pentagon...)
Some WAV editors (they can be usefull): Wavelab, Soundforge 5...
5 Pounds of Hash
And remember - all this aint worth shit if you don't have a decent sound system (monitors, good sound card etc....)
  MiniMAL cabron... |

first get a software like FLP and mess around with it, if u think u have talent and developing good tracks. then i reccomend buy monitors, and slowly start saving up cash for a soundcard . when this arrives you can start using a combination of a lot of programs, and working in a 24/96 sound environment.
cheers. |

I think you should start working with Fruity Loops and recycle or cooleditpro to program your own sounds and a bit of sample job, try to do some seuqencer work in ftloops and work with the fx.
This way you will learn how things work.
After try reason and after Cubase or Logic will be fine.
