1- don't know ...
2- Ableton Live (it's killargh ). Love logic too but I don't use it I'm on PC.

Why ableton : it fits very well to my way of composing. Here's what I like :

- you can reorder the FX on the fly.

- lots of things are "drag and drop".

- you can reuse very efficiently tracks that you did in other tunes.

- the intrument / FX racks : very efficient and integrated for doing thing that would be quite long to do in other apps. It's also a great way to keep presets with long plugin chains.

- efficient clip freeze : you can move/duplicate frozen clips. Clips are frozen in an intelligent way that keeps the tail of Fxs. Freezing and copying a clip to a blank audio track is equivalent to a clip bounce.

- powerful routing.

- efficient space management in the GUI.

- very stimulating environment (that's personal). I think you're not striked by the visual aspect of the application, you can keep your mind focused on music, not on how great the interface looks.

- you can use it in many different ways (live, studio, djing, experiment with the clip auto chaining, add some randomness / glitch etc ...).
- Midi control is also very well implemented and easy to use.
- Easy automation with the enveloppe editor.

on the - side :
- no way of making bus tracks looks different.
- you have to change manually the settings on audio clips to disengage the automatic time stretch which may alter your sounds.
