haven t used much monitors in that price range so dunno if you can get decent ones..check small adam ones maybe... a option could be headphone like akg 701 and/or ath m50 and save for monitors that cost much more.. but headphone wihtout monitors or speakers to check translation is not great too..

in that price range worth to check the yamaha's hs80m and some adam's like a5x and the new series f like f7.

recently i had the time to test the yammies hs80m a good friend of mine bought em. i have to say that i liked em much... i found em for the price really good.

even with small budget monitors you can hit a really nice sound to work with a good acoustic room. a good treatment room can light the monitors and will be suprised to see how different sounds your monitors with and without treatment.           ...into the wild....

I want to buy a pair too... and i hesitate between the yam HS80m and the adam F7.

A friend of mine got the HS80 and i have to say that they have a great sound for the price.
The mixes i have done on them were great.

A good/bad room affects more your mixing quality than the monitors you have, you only start noticing the gap of quality between monitors if you have a nice room

technicaly, if your room is good (non cubic shape or accousticly treated) then every monitor is able to provide good mixing, doesnt matter the brand or the price

the problem of most people is that very often they arent listening only the monitor... but the walls included, so their mixes tend to be unbalanced and exagerated at certain key elements...

its simple actualy: when you make mistakes like placing a monitor right in front of a wall, its plenty normal that the bass your listening is fooling you, your listening a reflection and the original sound, resulting in a an increase of volume that confuses your perception...

then people complain about monitor and its price, thinking that a most expensive model would solve their problem...

but the problem isnt the monitor, is the room or the way the monitors are placed!

an expensive monitor can help people to reach certain detail on a mix that would be more difficult with a low-end model, but the key difference is made by the room

its useless to expend more money on other model if your room is keeps the same problems

I have bought the F7, just started to get into them and i really like them.
Sufficient low end response, and with the clarity and depth of adam´s products.
Sure they dont sound as good as the a7x.
I were surprised how well they sounded when i listened at them in the shop.

I can recommend em.
