Just the bassline is enough to make the dance floor rumble.

What do you like to hear before / after a nice drop?

I like the way Burn in Noise drops his bassline after the vocal fx on Pink Noise.

Depends, sometimes just a moment of silence before drop, in some cases very fast effective glitch or combination of drums( like Disco Hooligans for example ),maybe some good delayed short speech sample or sound, really depends on track and story itself....

really depends like xsze says but right before i like there to be a split second of silence, like right on beat 4 of the previous measure.

As well as a heavy percussion played together with a crash cymbal that has a pingpong delay on it.

I like a heavy sweep, some pads, rythms that get you into the "groove" and then a bar of complete silence.            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

Hmm,considering that it drops to kicknbass, not much surprise here .P.S:I don't know why,but it just sounds so fucking good.Wonder why the corniest thing is still sounds so good...

My guess that in parties Ive been, most of the PA systems are way over there to pump bass, and in busy parts of track it kinda sounds like distorted crap. But on pure kicknbass the energy is harvested fully.Or something like that,I dunno.           From all the things I lost, that sandwitch cost me most :)

it depends on how the build (or how much build ups) were made before the drop, if the track is just 1 build up and then - kick bass, it gets annoying, but if it is a well done 3 times build up with no time to think track, a drop to the simple kbass can be pure heaven if it doesnt break the flow, i personaly don't like very much when i'm on kbbb typo of track and the drop goes for that K bKbK it kills the drive for me, altough it seems lots of people like it

Nice comments here people.

Thanks for your contribution...

Before a drop I like hipass & reso all sorts of stuff including a bass n perc loop, then some crazy drum fills and fx (finally got how to do all sorts of tricks) maybe a vocal sample and drop it, depending on which part of the track it is, i create stuff after the drop...

I've noticed that the bass drops that i like the most are usually not just the k&b but maybe a tiny percussion loop or a sound fx that makes the bassline sound even more wicked.

But yeah, i know it depends a lot on the track, the build up and all, sometimes dropping without notice or any build at all (maybe one lil reversed sound) can work too.

I think we all love bass drops because at the dancefloor one is just expecting the damn beat to come back to dance again.

A very well bass drop is equivalent to a tennis "ace" shot, or to a mortal kombat fatality xD you know just a cool and perfected way to do something that has to be done anyway.
