A Day in the Life!
Tripped me out as bad as some psy the first time I heard it.
I'd have to agree that they are overhyped at this point in time, but I'm sure at the time of Beatlemania it was something quite new and interesting. |

the beatles turned me on to music. I can see why people would say they are over-rated, but i think that when you fully realize the moment that their music exists in, you understand why everyone thinks they're the greatest. I like how they took influence from what the great conceptual musicians of the 20th century (Stravinsky, Stockhausen, & Steve Reich are the first ones that always come to my mind) were doing, but made it sound hip
Another thing I greatly admire about them is how they weren't afraid to utilize technology in an effort to create better music. Before them no one layered tracks or used "special effects" the way they did. Nor was anyone in the pop scene fusing world music like them. so many things i love about the beatles!
I think they reached a level of complexity that greatly challenged listeners but not at the expense of their highly pleasurable music! It seems that all too often when musicians attempt to challenge their audience, they simply alienate them; but the beatles served as a bridge between the world of pop music and the world of conservatories -- a crucial step in our musical evolution http://soundcloud.com/rob-vector |

I'll add on to that The Beatles created hit after hit ... Good musicianship even if rather simple, complete!

one more fan to the list...hehehe
when i was young, i was listening to their music a lot, but nowadays i dont listen it frequently.
Anyway, they were kind a big revolution in their time, and it was a big revolution to the music industry as well.
in their time, they were not allowed to play in Portugal, because of the dictature, so our parents or grandparents had to go to England to listen their live show...hehehe
