hello all chillers
this thread is all about very old (i could even call it ancient) chill out and ambient music
at the last week i was exploring the internet about old releases, i find it kinda fun to listen to some realy old releases and to see what happend to electronic sound during the passing years
now is the time for all the old geezers here in isratrance to post here some classic releases from the 70's and the 80's
the oldest release i saw is an artist named brian eno and the album called "music for airports", released in 1978
it not electronic at all and i personaly find it kind of boaring
but its defenetly ambient music
does anyone know about an older release then that?
or any releases from this years that are actualy good?

Eno was 50% musician and 50% performance artist. His ambient releases were created with the intention of literally being ambient. It was music intended to just sort of float in the background and affect the mood of the listener without really making them aware of it. Unlike a lot of the"ambient" since then which is intended for active listening. Just felt like giving some backstory to the Music for Airports release for no apparent reason.
Tangerine Dream has been around since the late '60s and often gets lumped into the ambient/psychedelic category. I'd say that they're one of the great grandfathers of the current psychedelic chillout scene. |

^^thats not ambient at all. maybe 1 or 2 tracks here and there are more relaxed, but i certainly wouldn't call them ambient or chillout

kitaro - astral voyage (1978) and
Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygen (1977) should be something of classic 70's ambient albums imo. equinoxe by jmj is an ok album as well even if its no classic.
