so to get a sweep using logic, i would use a synth like es1? And create a saw tooth wave or sine wave, then apply reverb & pitch bend effects to it?
Can anyone elaborate for logicusers as ive tried this and it just makes quite a boring, annoying sound - not a nice sweep at all.
Is there a certain synth i should use in logic?
I've alsotried loads of eq/envelope/compression too and it doesnt make the sound any more like a sweep.

you can take any synth that got an adsr envelope...use whatever you want inside the synth..just make sure attack is almost full,no decay, full sustain, and half release...is you want a faster sweep lower the attack..if you want the sweep to even sweep out and not cut out..then use a higher release..very easy..

you can simply automate any synth`s Pitch .
Just make sure you check your synths settings to use its full octave ranges.
Export to wav and add extra fx

if you use the envelope settings i stated above , then you can adjust the releasetime to the right point f.e...
i just brang up this thread for the guy who started that acid fart thread and thought he would find most usefull information in here..since i think almost all technics are stated in here to achieve this kind of sound.. -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.- |

In Vanguard (or any other instrument) Take any wave or combo.
On ENV 2 turn the ADSR knobs all the way to the right. turn the pitch to the right to 12 or 24, or whatever your preference is. Pitch will control how much the pitch rises. There you have a rising pitch sweep.
I used Live 7 for these tricks.
For a rising filter sweep, modulate the filter cutoff from left to right. Some filter types won't work well. So after you modulate go through and change the the filter type until you find something that sounds good to you. In the drop down list it's labeled Vanguard>FLT F. You can also combine this with a pitch sweep.

And try this. In Vangaurd's LFO choose a waveform in OSC 1. In LFO 1 turn the detune to about 9 O'clock. Now use modulation to control the speed.
A line from say about 1/4 of the way up all the way to about 3/4 of the way up or so. You should have a diagonal line ascending upwards. I have the note length set to 4 bars. In the drop down list it's labeled Vanguard>LFO1frq.Combine this with a rising filter and pitch sweeps and you get a really crazy sounding sweep.

Take any sample whatever it is if its just a steady synth pad or a sample source of whatever sound u like , if its a short sample then time stretch it , if its too long then simply chop the desired sound
Apply Waves Sounshifter G ,in sx3 you can process it offline also , if u want a rising sweep simply increase the slope to however much high u want it and if u want decreasing then slope it downwards , its a simple example nothing too hard , sweeping techniques can be done with lfos, cuttofs or whatever method , for more complex sweeps its good to layer them precisely and soundshift the entire lot , then ofcourse delay or reverbs or ringshifters its a matter of choice.
Hope that helps!

my way to make sweeps is get a sample, time strech it to get longer, and then pitch shift, easy and fast |
