Is there anyone here that can explain me the reason why Pioneer has such a strong monopoly on the market?

Mixers & CDj...

It is rear these days to find a party/club/dj with other brands...

Is it a quality thing? did anyone checked it?
Is it a "go with the herd" thing?           www.myspace.com/42aviv

Pioneer generally have a very strong brand on the market for CDJ's, and not just on the psytrance scene. CDJ1000 MK3 is the best player I've tried, and almost every major club or gig uses it. Don't know why CDJ100 is still so heavily used on the psytrance scene though - I find it heavily lacking, and it's not uncommon to play on old players where the jog-wheel is worn and quite unreliable. One of the reasons why I often just use the pitch slider to adjust the pitch during a mix...

Concerning mixers Pioneer doesn't have as strong a position on the market. Of course Pioneer is the standard in most cases, but especially at bigger venues I've played at other (and in some opinion better) mixers such as Allen & Heath.

I think one of the main reasons for Pioneer having such a strong brand, is that a lot of DJ's require some sort of standard. Of course it's necessary to be able to adapt to different situations, but it's also nice to get to your gig and know exactly how to operate the supplied gear right away.          DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

I can count in 1 hand the clubs/bars in Tel Aviv with Mixers wich are NOT Pioneer made.

The only good thing behringer makes is that one midi controller

their mixers are good when you first buy them but do not last long at all.

Probably the reason pioneer has such a cornered market on CDJs is because they are the only ones to really focus on quality... most other CDJs mainly try to beat Pioneer's price or add new features.

It's kind of a vicious cycle... Denon is the only brand that comes close to equaling pioneer for CD players, and they have a couple of neat features that pioneer doesn't... but then a DJ will think "Well those features are great, but why get used to them when any club I will play in will have pioneer?"

Same reason why the Technics turntables are still popular over other, arguably better models like Stanton ST-150 and Numark TTX1

I prefer the sound of the A & H, but i prefer the use of the pioneers. I really don't like the 4 band eq on the A & H.

for dj pioneer are number 1 when it comes to quality and comfort.
allen and heath is the only other mixer i like to play on. great sound quality. 4 bands eq is plus for me too.
the rest is shite bro. i had beghringer and sold it. i played on numark , gemini , and denon.. nothing like good ol' pioneer... imo
oh yeah , did we mention that if you go to play in public then 80% of the time thats the gear you will get.. so better to be prepared

and let me call all israeli organizers please use pioneer 1000's with 800 mixer. stop that 100/500 combo its old. no looping options even... line up with the higher level          www.sattelbattle.com

There's a reason why the behringer weighs a lot less than the 600           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Pioneer is just the standard they are a big company with good distribution channels all over the world so the majority of clubs have them.
If you want the best where budget is not a compromise i think ecler, allen & heath rock. Never heard of rane will check it out.           "Whoever said the best things in life are free... obviously grew their own bud"
