Just a little something I wanted to share with you... make you all jealous...
I played in Zurich for Smilinc last weekend, with OOOD and Voice of Cod, and part of our equipment hire list was "Midas 24 channel mixing desk (Mackie 24 channel 8-buss will suffice)"...
Instead they gave us this monster, a 48-input Midas Verona:

Absolutely awesome. We've used Midas desks for our live sets before (and were impressed with them, hence the spec in our hire list) but nothing like this. Much better IMO than Mackie and even though the EQ is less than surgical - although it has 4-band sweepable EQs (the low band goes down to 20Hz for fuck's sake!) and sweepable low-pass filters it has no bandwidth controls and the bell was rather broad to my ears - it is by far the smoothest sounding desk I've used live up to now and it was well able to correct the output of the DJ mixer for the idiosyncracies of the CV soundsystem in the club. The mute groups came in handy for changing over active channels between the acts that were using the desks, and it was very handy indeed to have both PFL and SIP soloing available at the touch of a button.
And to say that 'it looks the business' is by no means an exaggeration...

I tripped over this beast recently - I don't know if it's any good, but it too looks the business.

so... how do you actulaly use the desk in live acts?
do you have speciefic audio groups from your
computer and synths to individual tracks on the mixer?
or you use a stereo out to what comes in
from the computer (already bounced) and the rest of your equipment, synths and drum machines inserted to the rest of the channels?
or...any other way....?
please tell me im curiouse...
...(this snimly dosnt look like he's
breathing...it actualy seems like hes wanking, dosnt it?....)

Yup. That's how we do it at the moment... With 4 musicians jamming on stage things can get quite wild sometimes and it really helps to have something solid and dependable backing us. The line-up is me and Steve playing keyboards, Ryo (and me sometimes) playing percussion and Rama playing extra samples and strangeness from Live on his laptop; it all adds up to around 16 channels of which only two are track playback. There is no MIDI in the current OOOD live set, only stereo tracks and live musicians.
