Dude im like the biggest animal lover ever.. i have a little blind cocker spaniel (nomie), a psycho pug(max), a chihuahua (mums, kara), and two persian cats(alley and tyson).. if i ever saw ne one being cruel to an animal, in whatever form, id kill the bastard... quote me on that..

1. It's research, not cruelty. People do this to learn, not because they enjoy harming other lifeforms.
2. Even if its a fruit fly or a crayfish or a seaslug, you still dont think people should use it for research that could save human lives?
3. If someone you love gets cancer and they seek treatment at a hospital would you "kill the bastard"? Because they are supporting this stuff you object to so much, shouldnt they be guilty too in you mind? |

Already on it .. But don't you agree to some extent, that if it wasn't for all of these deceases, we would be way over populated? 75% (pulled a number out of my ass) of these HIV ect deceases didn't even exist long time ago in Bethlehem. We humans are polluting this planet with deceases, pollution, space and God knows what else. I think mother earth would be better off without us. – Now if you’ll excuse me, I will go to the doctor and make sure I get all that I can get out of my tax money. That means free medical support, consulting and operations (just had two knee surgeries last year). Last week I took a HIV test (never took a sex related decease test in my life, it was about time.) Then later I will take a polluted bus trip in to the city core to buy a kebab. I’m sure the animals that where slaughtered for my pleasure lived a terrible life. After the kebab, I’ll take a cigarette, and when done, I’m sure I will just through the ciggbutt on the ground like it was a trash bin. - I would love to do my part to save everything that I value. But it’s hard.. Let’s see what the future brings. Right now I live in a capitalistic world where if you can’t beat them, join them counts. .. And besides, if the psycosmos is for real, I guess all that is happening, happens for a mystical reason. .
But we where talking about animal testing. . I guess a lot of benefits is here for our pleasure (or care) because of all of the testing’s over the years. But I don't have to like it. .. What does that make me again? I forgot.. hyposomething? I complain, but don't do anything about it. I complain, and still take pleasure from it’s fruits. Hypo .. no? hmm.. Well, I guess most people are what I am trying to say. At least we’re good at complaining/say we don’t like it – like IE. chickens, we love egg and chicken meat. But if we REALLy knew how their conditions were (In 2006, we all should know, but to close your eyes and ears is easy)*, we would stop eating them. But yeah, ignorance is bliss, we close our eyes to a lot (like my kebab), because we “don’t want to know. We don’t want to see”, we are comfortable knowing less. .. god we suck

This I agree with, and it is a serious problem. However I favor controlling population by limiting births. If people didnt have more than 2-3 children the population would grow at a more reasonable rate.
Also, I personally am more interested in research that will improve peoples lives rather than just extend them. For example, the early hallucinogen experiments which got this thread started led to discoveries that helped to improve the lives of many people. Hallucinogen research in animals has lead to improved antipsychotic drugs, which have allowed more people to live at home instead of in mental institutions. While these drugs are far from ideal, and have many negative side effects, they do help people.

Now, u could replace the word HUMAN with other words, like a nationality, a race etc...and see what a horrific scenario it will get...
The point is - untill there is Separation (in our mind and our hearts) there will be No Peace and Harmony whatsoever.

and it's not only three words in the middle of others...it's a reality, a very unique and true feeling...starting from this material level of existence lets go smaller and smaller (as quantum physics may direct us..) and the last "Stop" will be at a Unified Energy Level where everything touches...and where u may experiment with your feelings the Underlying Unity of Everything.
I don't know if it's a question of age, personal evolution, reincarnations or whateverelse...but the world is getting to the shit point that is at the moment expecially because of the general shared view that Humans are the "choosen" species...
And yes- Humans are the choosen species to help for a quick destruction of this once beautiful planet...look what we are doing, pollution, violence, wars, global warming and more more more..of this great free violence, on us and on the Earth.
When i was a stupid little little girl, i remember sometimes i used to catch flies and did terrible things to them, like taking their wings off..etc...
And now i can just tell you people, with the maximum of the honesty, that when i think back at that, my heart suffer, together with the sufference that i gave to those harmless creatures, and i learned the lesson, through the years...
My Karma paid me back with the gift of Empathy.
Now my empathy with other creatures of this planet is getting without boundaries, i fail to see any difference between all living creatures, we are all the same, breathing the same air, sharing the same globe, and to my eyes THERE'S NO LESS IMPORTANT LIFE - ALL IS EQUAL UNDER THE SKY!!!!
And cats and dogs, just to name a few of the species more close to us, are really like my blood kin to me (and boy.oh.boy! how much unselfish love they give us!!!!)
(Maybe i am too much nowadays, i can't even kill a mosquito if it's buzzing over my head..i just put more mosquito repellent..for example...)

i've stayed quiet long enough...
this "the end justifies the means" attitude is just an excuse to use sinful measures to get what we want (or what we think we need). i just cant believe anyone can call this research. we may have "learned" something from it, but at what cost?! Shaktycat said "we are one." take those words to heart. that cat is just as living, breathing, and feeling as we are. we're equal, we're just as important to this world.
why dont we test on humans to save animals!? why are we so god damn important?!
can you imagine the type of thinking this research lab was doing? "lets give a cat outrageous amounts of lsd so it'll go crazy. then we'll study it. all for the greater good!" we shouldnt have the power to make those kind of choices.
animal research "helps," yes, i agree. but it hurts so much more. a life was essentially sacrificed so we could "learn."
learning is over rated anyway.

No, we aren't all one. I am me and you are you and a cat is a cat. Get real. I for one am glad that I haven't been cursed with an empathy that binds me up and prevents me from doing what I gotta do.
"Learning is overrated", bah, what idiocy. This statement just proves the kind of ignorant mentality attitudes like yours come from.
I don't believe in Sin, Karma, Devil or Hell. I dont believe in everlasting soul, afterlife, reincarnation, once you leave this world, there will be no consequences for your actions. It doesnt matter. Cosmic accountability is a nice fairly tale, but its not gonna scare me away from anything!
It's all myth and I feel sorry for people who let their minds be constrained by this completly unnatural sense of morality. All life requires death to sustain itself, trying to deny that pure silliness.
Even if you decide not to eat animals, you will kill animals clearning a place to grow your oh-so-karmically-correct vegan food, and when you harvest your vegan food you will be hurting the poor little plants. If you eat potatoes or othe root veggies you will even be MURDERING all those poor defenseless plants that you have to uproot. Boo fucking hoo.
Like I said before, if YOU think this is so wrong, than why dont YOU refuse medical care for yourself and your family. If you want to sacrifice youself to show solidarity with the poor little lab mice, be my guest.

sounds like someone has a god complex over "lesser" life forms. you seem sure on your points, theres no changing your mind, i see. not that i was trying, but i thought i would share my opinions on the subject.
i can see the good points of animal testing. but i cant justify torture. your lack of love for life is disturbing.
...and stop attacking me. just because we disagree on a point doesnt give you the right to insult and act childish.
