I would highly recommend the 2+2 forums if you are into holdem.
Poker is an interesting game because it takes 2 seconds to learn, everyone who ever plays thinks they are great at it but it truely takes years to actually get good.

I like hold'em. I have too many tells, or maybe I just bluff too much. I'm kidding. You wouldn't expect someone who plays poker to lie, would you?

Tells are something more from TV than anything.
If you just want to beat your friends and people who don't know how to play:
play really tight. Basically all the broadway cards plus pocket pair togather but fold JT offsuite and QT offsuite. Those 2 starting hands are deceptively poor.
To balance that, raise everytime the action is folded to you when your on the button or cutoff with any 2 cards.
If the action is folded to you as SB, raise to try to steal the BB. If your BB and and its just you and SB limps in, raise him.
Never limp, either fold or enter the pot with 4X the bb raise.
Cbet everytime you miss the flop and were first to enter the pot.

With AA and KK, move all in preflop. Even though sometimes everyone will fold, alot of times people will call at low levels with totally dominated hands, especially AK. Also its very hard to fold AA and KK when you are beat so best to get it all in pre flop.
Don't call any all in pre flop shoves without JJ, QQ, KK or AA. |

Here is a more detailed primer, probly better than any poker book but you might have to look up the lingo a little.
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/78/micro-stakes-full-ring/pooh-bah-redux-nit-clinic-564111/
Keep in mind what I said will only work against totally clueless players who are not aware of position at all.
Even on the lowest levels at fulltitle poker
alot of people know some of this stuff.
I was just playing a hand with QQ, guy to my right opened for 3bb and I called. flop came 3 4 J and I think the guy pretty much tried to cbet me the pot, so with QQ I reraised him and folded.
If I had not had QQ I probly would have folded and he probly equally had nothing, which is why cbet is so powerfull at the low levels.
A more advanced bluff is a "float" where a guy cbets you and you have position on him, you call then bet him out of the pot if he checks the turn. I still don't really have this move down because it doesnt seem to work that well at the low limits.
Another huge thing too is if you think you are ahead, don't get fancy and slow play and that crap. Bet all 3 streets because people will call too much in the long run.
