Testing room acoustics

So, I've got plenty of foam and bass traps around my production room, but I was wondering if anyone could give some advice for testing out room acoustics- what freqs appear louder/softer or anything like that. Maybe it's a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on testing this. Maybe there's a site with some general tips that someone could recommend?

I'm thinking along the lines of listening to a track that is mixed well and see what stands out and compare what you hear to what someone else does? Is there a good way to standardize a test rather than just comparing with other people who might have poor room acoustics?

I'm at the point where I realize that my room probably isn't 100% perfect, but I don't know of a good way to tell what freqs are really being affected by my room. I've got a pair of Yamaha HS80m's which have some switches for roon control too ( http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun06/images/yamahahs80mrear_l.jpg ).           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

I have noticed that things like hihats stand out more on my monitors when compared to headphones or laptop speakers- but I assume this is just because they have a higher freq response.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

The high freqs comes from the yamaha, i read this a time ago... But you can fix this with room controll at the backside of the speakers. Do you have the subwoofer upgrade? I read that its amazing!

Any chance of finding where you read that at? Think turning the high trim switch to -2db would be a good idea then?

This is one of those things where I know my room acoustics are good, but I just don't have any way to calibrate/test compared to a perfect setup.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Interesting, one comment on there said he turned the treble down 2db and left everything else the same. I'm gonna try it with the high trim at -2db after I do some other room tests.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Play slow sweeps of a sine wave thru the frequency range (like over a minute, maybe two for a full sweep). Record the output on a microphone at your listening position, and compare the results.           Keep The Faith,

Thanks for the replies guys. I've got a Shure SM57, so a mic test is possible. Some day I'll probably run all of these and hopefully get a good result.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Don´t use a sm57 for doing room acoustics, use this one, it has a more linear freq response. And if you can play pink noise and sample it over time and get the mean sound pressure then your on a good way to calibrate your room
