Police: Teen tried to ‘invoke the beast’
A teen was taken for a psychological evaluation after police found him in the midst of a devil-worshipping ritual in a Gurnee park, a police official said.
The 15-year-old was found in Gowe Park, behind Warren Township High School, on Dec. 16. He was burning a candle, and had drawn a pentagram on the ground with charcoal, said Gurnee Police Cmdr. Jay Patrick.
The boy allegedly told police he was “trying to invoke the beast,” Patrick said.
The teen’s mother called police after she had an argument with the boy at their home on Bluebird Court in Gurnee.
She told police he had taken a knife into the family’s garage to cut up veal for a devil-worshipping ceremony. When she grabbed his hoodie to get him back into the house, the boy pulled away, twisting her wrist, then left the home, according to a police report.
After officers found the teen, he was taken by the Gurnee Fire Department to Vista West Medical Center in Waukegan for a psychological evaluation, Patrick said.
